The new ones are more realistic, ornate, and cool!
I guess it's alright, I just prefer the old one as it's much more useful.

There are so many great castle weapons, but my all time favorite is the Black Short Sword from 6041 Armor Shop. I somehow ended up with this through a friend giving me his 1980s castle sets. I definitely lucked out on this. Still to this day, I only have the one black short sword amidst a plethora of gray short swords..

Simple old sword is my favorite. Then the simple old spear. And then maybe a staff.
I do remember being similarly excited, as a kid, when the crossbow came out.
I really don't like the new sword. Fortunately I have a lot of the old ones to swap out.
