This week’s set is 1712 (1732) Crossbow Cart.

Crossbow Cart, one of the smallest Dragon Master’s sets, was released in 1993. It features a Dragon Master soldier pushing a cart armed with two crossbows, a spear, a sword, and a shield.

Not a bad little army builder set. You get the guy, a shield and a boot-load of weapons along with some assorted pieces and two wagon wheels. It was a good deal. The actual build was uninspired but who was buying this for the cart/wheelbarrow anyway?

LEGO has made similar sets for many of their factions and, frankly, I appreciate them.

Generic soldier; sword, spear, shield, two cart wheels, for what more can you ask? Maybe a better faction? But this is the perfect army builder.

And I don't mind the cart either. I'm not sure it is in anyway realistic. But I think it makes a decent little ballista type siege weapon for kind of a throw away scene detail...

This is a very nice little set, if you want weapons.

I'm not a big fan of that torso, and the head is pretty bad. Otherwise, as with everyone else, awesome for the assortment of weapons.

I'm sure his momma likes him. ;)

I wasn't a big fan of the torso either, until I put black arms in it. It looks much better that way.

This is an OK set, but I generally don't like the single-minifig siege weapons that have appeared in various themes. If you're short on weapons, this set will certainly get you started, but I don't see the minifig being a particularly inspiring army builder.

I always enjoyed the Castle (and all other) themed polybag sets like this. I had bricks and sets, but what I did not have were many special elements, accessories or generic soldier figures. Often these were so attractively priced that the cons were far out-done by how much you got in the baggie. Was it perfect as a stand alone set? Hardly, BUT it was a complete and well armed soldier with a a printed shield and faction torso. As time has gone on, the retail current replacements for these often do not have as complete a set of arms and armaments. Five or six of these really made a difference for any Fire-Breathing Fortress. :)

Oh...another set from my early years! I loved these "small box sets" because they were soo cheap for a small kid to buy! I remember it cost 750 drahmas (around 2 euros) wich was a really affordable price for the age of 8. I also remember my dad giving me money to buy food at school wich i secretly kept in order to buy small sets like these. As far as i remember i had bought 6-8 of these just to make a dragon master army!
A quiver would had made this set even better but in those early years "crossbowmen" for some reason didn't had carried one. So they had to make that one shot worth!
