That new elf polybag is amazing, what a great little set! The figure is amazing, talk about a way to get a bunch of those longbows. The bricks included are useful too, and the goblet is great. I hope I can load up on a bunch of these at some local store. Now all we need is a polybag with the Rohan soldier.
You would rather be building right now.

RUDE! Looks like the Elf polybag has been cleaned out at TRU! That really sucks!

Or maybe it was an error and then pulled? Oh well, we'll have to wait and see. Mind you, they've started appearing on BL for twice the price.

From what I've read elsewhere, it seems that it has been pulled from sale, and will potentially be available as a promo with Hobbit purhcases. So whether it was just mistakenly sold, or they realised it's draw (and so now the only way of getting it is to make you spend MORE in store...) is currently unknown...

Those US only polybags make me sad, the archer, now an elf, sigh, how hard can it be to toss a container full of them over the pond?

I personally think these sets look awesome! They have some interesting new pieces and parts, which is always a plus. The only thing I'd say I definitely don't like is how the white Warg has a red nose, it kind of looks like a clown. :( Other then that complaint, I think I'll for sure purchase the majority of them. :D

I bought and built Bag End yesterday...and my response was "oh this is a nice good build." I was honestly impressed. Sure it is a mighty price, but it was well worth it. Other than Diagon Alley and the Indiana Jones line, there hasn't been many licensed sets that I have even liked the design to, but this one, very nice...very nice indeed. I'm glad I splurged at the Walmart on an impulse.

The figs are just nice. The torsos are pretty dare good detail and some are great for castle. The guy who is made to look over weight, its really well done too. The wigs and beards...nice very nice. And it has a great selection of food for those who are food challenged. Including the PRETZEL..which I personally adore.

It is worth the buy for the parts that are in it in green alone. But the build was so good, and the figs are good, and the food is good...its not often I write something up about a set...this one is good. Good enough that I would buy a second, not for stockpiling, but to build and use again.

I picked up the Elf Archer and Gandalf polybag sets at TRU today while Christmas shopping for my kids. They are both great sets and worth the money. There were about 10 Gandalf sets but only one Elf set. Pieces are useful and there is actually some neat play value with the Elf set, not so much with Gandalf (although it would be fine if used with other sets). There were no Bag End polybags which are what I originally set out to find.

On a side note: This is the first Lego I have bought for myself for many months and will probably be the last for many months. I'm not a fan of the Hobbit sets as they generally remind me of a license version of the KK2 Jelly Bean sets (too much of a playset). I liked a lot of the LOTR sets because, while they were based on scenes from the movies, they could also easily be integrated into my kids' normal Lego playing. I did skip most of the sets that were just too "playset" from the LOTR sets though.

These polybag sets hit the spot and Lego normally knocks it out of the park with polybags. Both are a good balance of pieces and figures for the price (even at TRU prices) and both fit in nicely with the other Castle-esque Lego sets around the house. Fact is that my 6 yr old daughter is playing with them right now.

It is my sincere hope that Lego keeps great polybag sets coming, Hobbit line or not, and I wish that TLG would consider keeping other lines alive (if only on a small scale) using polybags sets. Kingdoms died way too fast, as did Pirates, I know Lego doesn't want to crowd their licensed lines but polybags would be a great way to limit the competition with their licenses while still providing something a little more free-play orientated for adults and kids who like the more classic style of Lego sets.

My Two Cents.

I'm really nervous that I'll somehow miss the Elf Archer polybag. I've had no trouble finding all the other ones at Toys R Us, but this one is really going to be difficult I think. It could be the timing of it's release, but it's also one that you know everybody wants at least 4 of them.

Work to do today, Toys R Us tomorrow (fingers crossed). :o

Yeah we've had a heck of a time tracking them down up here in Seattle. Between everyone I know, I think we only have found about 25 of them total, and that's including 5 that I ordered from TRU online that first day they showed up.

If you only want a few, it's probably worth it just to pony up and order them from BL rather than spend a bunch of money on gas driving around to find them. $7-8 isn't really that unreasonable, if you ask me. (Though if you wanted to order 15-20 of them, I guess that extra $2-3 each adds up pretty fast.)

That's basically what those of us outside the US will have to do. I must admit, I'm mostly interested in the hood but now that I've started acquiring LotR sets, the whole elf is becoming more attractive. Mind you, I don't get into elves as much as some do so part of me still only wants to get just the one.

I just wanted one of the polybag sets. I went to multiple Toys R Us locations and they were all sold out, and the workers there just kept telling me to call back the next day to find out if they had any. Unfortunately, because it's no longer listed on the website, they apparently can't look it up to see if they have it in stock.

Anyway, I decided it would be cheaper to pay a few bucks more and have it shipped than to spend the gas money driving back and forth checking for it. I think it ended up costing me ~$10 for everything, and I'm happy to say it arrived yesterday and for someone who wants to collect all the Hobbit sets, it was worth it to me. The figure is great and comes with the dark green hood and the longbow. The torso doesn't have any fleshy printing on it so you can use it with yellow heads/hands. The parts are great too, and the new mushroom piece is pretty cool. Definitely worth picking at least one up.

That mushroom piece is also included in the Harry Potter set, I have considered picking one up because I like the tree and the figures look somewhat useful:
