I'm pretty sure Elderon just meant that Beorn's beard and hairpiece are connected, not two separate pieces :)

Exactly, thanks Soccerkid. I'm afraid these were the final sets. They looked pretty official at least. The decals were all printed and looked finished. And they were completly new decals by the way. Although they looked similar to the torso's from the mirkwood spiders set.

Okay i'm 50/50 about these. I like the elf army builder set for elves, orks, a new color of warg and nice pieces. As for the others theirs not that much that interests me except that lake town set mainly because it looks like it has a purple torso :eyebrows:

Sadly the set with Beorn set doesn't have a little more to it. I hope theres going to be a fifth set with Smaug :(

All in all i'd say not bad.

If you look closely you can see he is taller then the other figs due to the headpiece, making him similarly sized to Azog, which I think is because Beorn is taller then the average person. But he isn't huge... So yeah I am pretty sure they are one piece, unfortunately.

I also think the Beorn set is really overpriced, the worst of any of the sets in this line. It's just three minifigs and not much of a build... But the rest of them I think are ok.

I think it's possible there might be a later release of a Smaug set, kind of like orthanc in the last lotr wave in that it will be the biggest one and come out a bit later... That would be cool. I really hope they don't mold Smaug though... Brick built dragons for me. (Btw I need to put up some pics of my fell beast moc sometime soon...)

I really like the new sets and would be happy if they come as seen. Especially the lake-town set will fit to East-European, Russian or Hun castle- sceneries. :woo:

Beorn hair is also cool and you don't have to buy it....

That is what I was thinking, the Lake-Town would work really well for the Huns, and Mongols! :D

I'm really disappointed in the Elf Army set. I wanted and expected to see at least one armored elf warrior here, or at the very least just a new helmet. Three of the scouting-type green & brown outfits and 2 hoods is a real downer for me. The hood just doesn't say "elf" to me the way ears do, and I already have a few of the polybag one. An armored elf with a helmet would have made for much richer army building, and really diversified things. Why did the Laketown set get a helmet for a guard, but not the elves who've we've seen in armor in all but one of the movies so far? (First age & Rivendell in Fellowship, Helms Deep in TT, Rivendell in AUJ, and in the trailer for DOS)

Lame! :(

Hey,

I think these sets look pretty good, and am also curious as to what they suggest about the movie. I do agree that i'd rather have more elf-hair than hoods, but dark green is never something to sniff at.

Back when the Lake-town Chase set was revealed at ComicCon, a LEGO rep went on MTV (odd venue) to promote the set (video here), and she said a couple of interesting things. The MTV guy asked if they were making a dragon, and she smiled and said "We'll just have to find out." Then the MTV guy asked how many new Hobbit playsets were going to be created, and she said "we have about, very estimate, um, five." And then she said there "may be more" and she'd have to check with the master builder. I don't know who the rep is and how close she was to the set design and selection process. It may be that she had seen either preliminary designs that have been scrapped, or that she saw sets from future waves at various stages of the design process. Since there have been a few leaks regarding these three sets, plus the official announcement of Lake-town Chase, and now these more solid releases (and given what Elderon said above, I think these are well out of the leak category), but no sign of additional sets, I think this is it for the moment.

Regardless of when it comes, though, we do need a set with Smaug, Bilbo, and a big pile of chrome gold.

I like these sets a lot, and I would definately agree with Bruce saying that we need a Smaug and Bilbo with gold set. My favourite out of these ones has to be the Elf Army, especially with the brown Warg. Who wouldn't want one?!

Oh and I forgot to say, Jordan was moved to design Star Wars sets now. But he told me they already finished al the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit sets. For now at least. He also told me something about Minas Tirith, as in that he really would like to build the set, and he even tried to suggest (as I would hope the Minas Tirith set would be released) to make a couple of them. Like one bigger set, but adding smaller sets with pieces of the wall and an Orc siegetower or Nazgûl on Fell beast, stuff like that. So that you can actually build a huge Minas Tirith, but not have it cost $500,-. But we'll just have to wait and see I guess. And on more speculation, I have reasons to assume we're getting a new medieval Exclusive. Jordan also made a model for the Lego-movie, which he said "I would love". Since the only theme we talked about was castle and Lord of the Rings/the Hobbit, I think it's save to assume we're getting a set in that theme. Oh and the reason why it's probably an exclusive, is because he said it was gonna be more expensive than the Ewok Village...

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to speculate so much, but I thought it was interesting for you guys to know

Ah, that makes a lot more sense. I misinterpreted what he meant. That is good news!

A helmet with elf ears "built in" to it would be amazing! I'm not going to complain too much about getting more dark green hoods though :)

Does anyone else think that the ears on the Thranduil fig look like they are positioned too low on the head? It looks like they line up with his lower jaw :?

Oh, I see that now. :? Yeah, I agree, they are way to low. But how would you fix that?

Haha, that's funny. In a weird way, ya know? I wonder who designed his hair piece?

The only way to fix it would have been for them to situate the crown a little higher on his head. If it is as bad as it looks in the pic, I'd say it's borderline unusable. It looks ridiculous!

Surely that headpiece is not the finished product? That looks absolutely terrible IMO :(
