Lego Desolation of Smaug sets!

Post by Ferretclaw »

I have found some pictures of the finished, new lego sets for wave two of the hobbit, on the one ring dot net. Check them out here! http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2013/10 ... lego-sets/
As usual, the minifigs look amazing. Lots of great new molds, pretty much standard as far as builds themselves go, but I am still really excited about them! Hurrah for the Desolation of Smaug! :D

Well done, fantastic find! Some of those look good, but to me a little overpriced. Still, the minifigs look fantastic! Well done again on finding them!

Thanks! I agree that they are a tad expensive, especially the Beorn and Lake town ones, but overall I think it's worth it.

The Mirkwood Elf Army looks particularly good. Mmm, dark green hoods. ;)

Yes, those prices will give me some pause, but the figures look nice. Thanks for the pics.

I almost wouldn't want to draft the set because there are so many pieces and I wouldn't even know where to start!

Gimme those wargs!

The Beorn hair will make for some interesting figs, I'm sure. The new shoulder armor on the orcs is neat, too.

Hey guys,

I'm participant in a huge castle lay-out on Legoworld this year, in the Netherlands. I had the chance to speak with Jordan, designer of a few Hobbit sets. He designed the Mirkwood Elf army set. Yesterday evening Kim Thorensen (I hope I'm spelling that correctly :P ), gave us the privilege of showing us the actual sets, Mirkwood Army and Dol-Guldur ambush. I held the figs in my hands, guys! Holy meatballs are they awe-some! :D Thranduil is an amazing fig, with a great hairpiece. Al the other elves are generic looking, zo ne flesh decals. The orcs have a new armor-piece and terrific decals. I'm sorry to say, that the Beorn hairpiece is not detachable... It's much like the Chewbacca headpiece, so no new hair in that one. The warg is amazing, as usual :) A lot of new reddish brown arches, like the one in Elrond's Council, so they will be available in smaller sets as well, not just Lake Town Escape. I was super exited, when talking about the set with Jordan, but actually seeing the set, made everything even more awesome! I felt like a little boy again, getting his first set :P
Oh, forgot to mention, you can arange for of those sets to make a full circle. And the elven shield has a new decal, apparantly modeled after the ones in the movie. And it looks awesome!
Sorry, I've been absent for a while, but I thought you guys might like this news ;)

greetings,

Elderon

PS. BTW, did I mention that this set is awesome? Because it totally is! Awesome!

So I am completely "meh" about these sets, which I find really weird since I couldn't get enough of the first set of Hobbit sets. Other than the figs, the builds are not so exciting. I can't see myself buying any of these sets. I have bigger sets I want that I need to save up for, but we shall see. But I was "meh" about the first line of the LOTR sets. Part of this I think is because I decided to simplify my castle factions to the ones I really liked and got rid of the rest. I don't need/want these armies. But hey...for those of you who do...sweet deal for you.

Oh and please remember...to not over use and abuse the smilies. Thank you.

Thanx for the links to the pics! I like all these sets, but having to buy Legos on a rather severe budget, the only set I can say for sure I plan to get is the Mirkwood army. Probably buy multiples, and sell off the extra Thranduil figs. I have numerous elf factions in my Lego world so these will be awesome additions, as will the Gundabad orcs and warg. The Dol Guldur Battle has some very special minifigs (Radagast and Azog), so may be worth getting although the build is not that great and I would use it for parts. But then the only Lego set I have kept in its original build with minfigs is the LOTR Council of Elrond.

I am shocked that the Beorn hair is fused to the head. That seems extremely odd. Any chance that was just a prototype? Perhaps there will be a way to seperate the two with a bit of modifying. It will be very sad if this news turns out to be true in the final version :'(
