Best LotR/Hobbit sets to use for parts?

Postby royalbrickcustoms » Sun Dec 22, 2013 1:37 pm

Hey guys,

I was thinking of expanding my LotR/Hobbit collection and was wondering, what are the best LotR/Hobbit sets to use for parts (the best LotR/Hobbit parts sets)?

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks,

~RBC

Most of the sets are really good.

The Goblin King has some nice parts. The model is pretty bad, but if you can get it at a reduced price, its a good parts pack. The Warg Attack is a nice brown and leaves pack. Riddles for the Ring has a lot of dark bley slopes. Mines of Moria has a lot of nice dark bley stuff.

Bag End has nice parts and is a nice model. Same for Helms Deep.

Also, you do know you can find set inventories on both bricklink and brickset, which will give you nice lists (with pictures) of all the parts that come in a set?

Yeah, this seems like sort of a, "I'm too lazy to bother checking" question, coming from someone who owns their own BL store :tasty:

Helm's Deep is one of the best parts packs ever, IMO.

I would say Mirkwood Elf Army because I can't believe anyone would want to leave the model from that set on display...

I happen to like that set because I often do mid east castles in tan. I also happen to hate that set since their were no hooded elves in mirkwood, and the hooded guys could have been armored elves.

I've got to agree with you there. The parts are great for middle-eastern MOCs, but the original set design is nothing beautiful to look at

This is like the third thread I have read today about the Hobbit sets. Can't we keep all of the conversation in regards to the same sets, in the same thread? Just to make things clean. We have the same comments about that set going in at least two threads.
