Hi all,

Join the Classic Castle set review discussion. Please post your opinions on the set play ability, piece selection, design, etc. Which sets stand up to our catapult of critique and which ones crumble in shame!

This week’'s review is a little different. Over the past few months we've walked through all of the Lord of the Rings sets. Let's finish this off with the promotions and polybags, as well as other items.

30210, Frodo with cooking corner, shows a hobbit in his main environment, surrounded by food. This polybag was given away as a promo item in various ways (with the purchase of other LEGO sets in one promotion, along with a newspaper in England), and was also for sale in certain stores.

30211, Uruk-Hai with ballista, would be a great army builder if you could get it in any numbers. Like the Frodo set this was mainly available as a promotional giveaway, but was for sale in some stores.

Elrond's figure was a giveaway for those who pre-ordered the LEGO Lord of the Rings video game.

In addition to these, LEGO also sold keychains of Gandalf, Gimli, Frodo, and an orc. There was a set of three magnets - Frodo, Sam and a Nazgul - and another stand-alone magnet of Frodo (sometimes paired with young Bilbo).

I suppose I should include in this list, just to be completist, a promo conducted in the LEGO stores where you could "build your own sword", but it was pretty much a stack of 2x2 round bricks.

That finishes up all of the official Lord of the Rings sets - there were also two Bag End sets (one the exclusive microscale set from ComicCon), but those were marketed as being from the Hobbit. What are your thoughts on these promos, polybags, and gear?

Never been a big fan of gear, but I have to say that the Uruk Hai polybag was a great idea. There were quite a few in the films, and I don't think it's possible to get that many from just buying sets. This gives a nice alternative.

The Elrond figure was good for it's time, but frankly, I prefer the new one in the Hobbit sets from this year (yes, I know it isn't the same costume, but I think it better nonetheless). Still a neat figure, though.

I don't know why we needed to get Frodo again, but the set is nice. I would have preferred a Haldir or Rider of Rohan, perhaps even an Orc or one of the Army of the Dead, but oh well. Good for what it is.

I don't have much of a comment on the rest of the stuff.

I saw the Urak-Hai polybag at Toys R Us once. I deeply regret not getting more than 4, as I never saw them again....

The Frodo set is meh, but some nice parts

The Elrond fig is okay, but nothing particularly spectacular.
