I actually really, really, love these new sets. In fact these sets have made me dig back into my legos. I was really critical of the friends sets at first, but I actually like them quite a bit now (though I prefer the more adventurous sets than things like the hair salon).

There are two more sets with Pegasus in them:

Skyra's Mysterious Sky Castle - Tan and Purple, love this set.
Aira's Pegasus Sleigh

Now I'm wondering which of those LOTR hair pieces would work... I'll probably end up with more than one of the same figure and want to change them up...

I did end up picking up a copy of the Witch-king Battle and don't like the way the in-front hair looks on the friends figs, but I'm wondering if the swept-back hairdos will work...

I'd be curious to see hoe those horse compare side-by-side with a standard mini-figure horse.

While I'm not a huge fan of the actual sets...
Those new leaf colors are perfect for Fantasy castle builds.

I still can't overcome the heads on those figures... they are the biggest drawback to these sets for me. Keep LEGO, LEGO.

These sets are very exciting looking. The figures are blech, but I am not their target market. Their colors are keeping them out of my collection - for now - but also partially what makes them so fun looking. These same designs in more natural colors would slide right into the LOTR world.

I was looking at these sets more now that they are out. While in theory they could be integrated with Castle sets, I doubt so in reality.

Why? Because they are TOO "candy-ish". Pinks blues and more. The tree one wouldn't look good along any tree-related castle set (Forestmen, Dark Forest). And the castle-ish ones wouldn't go well along any castle lego set. They are just too far apart in color scheme and design. And of course, the figures don't gel with any previous lego castle set.

I am a pretty big fan of these sets, they may not fit in with "normal" castle, but work fantastically for the high fantasy genre. The new colors are great and the new pieces are pretty nifty. The figures have much to be desired, but really not that much of a deal breaker.

I don't usually keep my sets together, anyway, so these will be great for parts to use in high fantasy scenes, as CCG said.

Okay time for a chime in.

These sets do leave somethings to be desired, for those of us who were hopeing for a serries 3 CMF type line. However to say these sets are to" Candy "? They are anything if "candy". These are great parts packs, and in reallity not loaded with as many pinks as you may think. I am not fond of these sets figures, but I just give them to my daughter, minus hair that I can use.

I finally bought the treetop hideaway and in all honesty I love it. The tree builds up good and sturdy and looks to be a good defence post, from a classic standpoint. It will fit with forestmen with a couple minor changes. Mainly the folige, now dont get me wrong from a fantasy stand point I love this new color. However if you sub out dark green, red, or orange for the purples. And sub the smaller leaves for olive or drk red instead on lavander, I feal it would still look great :)

I am not found of the tank tred bridge. But it is a good use of the part now that it is becomeing more common. It is a good comprimise to the flimisy rope bridge like the one in the goblin king set. I may swap out for an acctual rope bridge in the future to see how it will look though. I also really like the new fence piece and hope it will be avaliable in more colors in the future. An I like that the main tree is on a 16x16 plate, as opposed to a flimsy classic base plate like in the modular sets.

I really like a couple of the play features as well. I really have nothing bad to say about this set. And for those who say this wont fit in standard castle, stay tuned. I am currently moding the set to see how it will fit :) an where I am at it is looking very promissing.

I am deffinily getting a couple more for parts purposes. As well as a couple of the smaller sets too. If I find them on clearence even better.

We all know I am a huge fan of the girl's lines (especially the Disney Princess line). I wasn't really on board with the Elves for a while. I was quite put off by them...until I started to look at the parts.

Recently I bought and built this one:

I bought it for the awesome book with dragon tile inside. It had tan (always a plus with me). And it had the glorious 6 stems. I didn't realize it had the 1x1 round tiles that look like wood. But it was a definite plus.

I wasn't sold on the dragon at all, but then I built it. I am actually quite happy with it except the fact that it has a treasure chest on it. But I can just remove that.

Friends and Elves sets always have great parts and not always in odd colors. Many sets has brown carrot tops. There are always new plants or new colors of plants. Gems? Yep..gotta love all the gems I can get. And the trans parts...how can you ever have enough trans bricks/plates? I can't.

Look close at this one..there is a new piece that IS a sand timer. It is glorious.

"Elves"

Such a promising, exciting title to a theme... and such a disappointment in real life.

I wish they would stay with yellow figs, or at least that Harry Potter peachy color... and no Barbie-like figs. I just can't justify spending the money on them, which is too bad, because some of the parts are really nice. Ah well.

The part that is sad...is that not very many bricklink stores part them out. So getting your hands on the Elves parts that are sweet isn't cheap or easy in quantity.

I don't think they are disappointing. Parts are parts. And I actually enjoy the builds...for the most part. They ARE brick built dragons. And that along makes them worth the time.

I agree with you here - the parts are good. I think they are disappointing to me because a theme name like "Elves" seems to have so much potential.

Hey..I know what you mean. To me an elf is either Santa's or Keebler's..giving me a gifts or cookies. But these sets make me happy with the parts and the builds. Friends minidolls are fine as they are. I haven't used them much and might not ever. But they don't hurt to be in a drawer. Parts are parts.
