See the article translation below:
At the Toy Fair, we were told what has been speculated for weeks: there will not be a sixth wave of LEGO Nexo Knights in the summer. Say: The most recent six sets will be the last and the product cycle has been shortened by half a year.

At the press conference, Frédéric Lehmann, Managing Director of LEGO GmbH, once again emphasized the importance of the digital component, mentioning the Nexo Knights app. Probably one last time. The knights of the future move on: A quiet farewell.

LEGO Nexo Knights: First Half of 2018

Twinfector 72002
Berserk Bomber 72003
Tech Wizard Showdown 72004
Aaron's X-bow 72005
Axl's Rolling Arsenal 72006
Please post your thoughts on the end of the Nexo Knight's line and your feedback for a new LEGO Castle line.

Parts are parts. And normally I'm all woohooo for new parts. And yes Nexo had some cool parts. But I only ever bought one set...and even regretted buying it. So farewell Nexo Knights...sorry to say this but...it it should have happened after year one.

PLEASE bring back a normal every day kind of castle line. I'll be super happy to have more catapults...if it means non-wonky colors, useful bricks, and normal hair colors. I prefer my castle historic and classic. Not a weird space castle mash-up.

Now I know I'm not in the target age range...but please...just a normal castle line. No skeletons, or fantasy, or trolls. Just one faction and another...and maybe maybe please..I am begging...one set that is a village set. MMV sold a ton. The other one with the goat...sold a ton. That dang goat goes for $40. We could use some more goats.

I'm fairly recently out of my Dark Ages. When I first got back into Lego, I wanted to build a castle. Instead, there was only Nexo.
I put the old Kings Castle together (mostly) from bulk, and I've picked up some Disney and Elves sets to fill the castle-y void. But I was a bit disappointed that there was no standard castle line available. Nexo was not for me.

Personally I loved the new parts that came in the sets. That being said, so long nexo knights. I agree with blue, it shouldn't have lasted more then a year. I really hope that we get back to some classic castle lines. I wouldn't mind the dark forest line, wolf pack, etc.. time will tell what will come along.

I also agree that MMV sold great, and mill village raid sold great once it went on sale. But come on Lego we need more goats! They resell for $30-40 each, and are becoming harder to get.

I hope this means there is a clear path for new castle themes. The only use I ever had for NK was using the red orc parts for Sith purebloods and Massassi in Old Republic Era Star Wars MOCs.

This is a tough one to comment on, mainly because I've seen each camp (loved it, hated it; bring back classics, try new stuff) bashing the other on various online forums.

I will say that it took me a while to get on board with Nexo Knights, but once I did I enjoyed some of the sets and parts and playability. I'm not the target audience, so I can't say how the digital experience helped or hindered everything.

I do applaud Lego for trying new things - in the end it seems like Nexo Knights is a combination of things that went well and things that could have gone better. Some examples:
-Good: The shield designs and powerups were a neat feature; Bad: There were WAY too many for anyone to collect that it felt gimmicky, why collect at all if you're not playing the game?
-Good: New parts and new colors of existing parts that lend well for MOCs; Bad: Some of the colors didn't mesh well in Wave 2 and the theme seemed to lack some consistency
-Good: Digital experience (game/show) helped to tie everything together; Bad: You were left in the dark on many things if you didn't watch the show/play the game. After reading a bit about the storyline it actually helped me to appreciate what the sets were trying to aim for

In the end I like the variety of new things that we can add to castle MOCs. As a theme though it was a miss for me, but again I'm not the target audience. I did learn some neat techniques from the sets I did pick up, so I was happy about that, and the concept art for the original pitch certainly looked cool.

At the end of the day not every theme that Lego puts out will be a homerun... and that's ok! If it helps them make the next theme better, then we as a community should theoretically be better off for it. Maybe, just maybe, they can pull inspiration from what came before (throughout all the castle years/themes) to create a new line that strikes gold! The other thought too is to do a one-off retro inspired set to test the market. Who knows... the beauty of Lego is that they're willing to take risks :)

For a new castle line, I think it would be great to feature a civilian series in line with MMV and the Mill Raid sets. If done right it could incorporate elements of action / conflict that they like for castle sets and also expand the range of a standard castle line - I imagine these could fit into multiple castle themes, again, if done right ;)

im 35 years old. i was into castle legos from the day my grandmother gave me a knock off castle set made by a Korean company named "coko" (i was 5)
i actually got back into legos after finding a box of my old stuff in storage 2 years ago. like others i was excited to see what lego had been up to in my hiatus. imagine my disappointment. i missed out on quite a few cool themes, and nexo knights was all that was available off the shelf. so after discovering brick link ive been building sets from my youth i missed out on or couldn't afford. i will not be sorry to see nexo go.

as to a new idea, i have been kicking around an idea for a crossover set between lego city and castle
by having a renaissance fair set. just an idea.

Sorry for the crappy typing, using my phone.

I wasn't a big fan of the theme when it was announced, but my kids really liked it so they picked up a few sets. I purchased a couple of the ultimate figures and then the mechs that were out last year and thought the characters were pretty neat, but otherwise, the theme didn't do much for me.

I'd be happy to see the return of a more classic castle and/or pirates theme, but I hope they aren't the junior-ized, cartoony sets like the last theme. LEGO seems to be more heavily focused on the character-based themes, so we'll see how it goes. I'd welcome the return of a fantasy-castle theme again, it's been a few years since LotR and the fantasy line of ~2007-2009.

Ironically enough, these last few Nexo Knights sets were some of the first that really interested me (the space vampires are strongly reminiscent of the Blacktron II space faction), but while it had some interesting ideas/parts I'm not particularly broken up about seeing it go.

It would be nice if the inevitable replacement theme was a little more grounded, but I actually don't mind a little gonzo. Something about midway between the dwarves-and-trolls line and Ninjago would be about right. Maybe something with a nautical theme, kind of a Pirates mashup sort of thing.

I've been a bit out of the loop lately, but the article mentions several weeks of rumors about the end of Nexo. Anybody want to speculate on how long this has been in the works, and when we might start finding out about said replacement?

As a whole, I liked Nexo Knights more than the average (Judging by responses on here) but I'm not torn up to see it go. I really liked most of the minifigures, but the sets tended to be hit and miss. Often there was too much technic (Some parts are nice, but I can only take so many angled Technic beams)

I would definetly like to see a more grounded castle theme take it's place. Even a more fantasy skewed theme would be okay.

My wife and I cheered when we heard the announcement. I only bought one of the army builder packs of the villains. Other than that, the parts that I did like out of the sets were produced in colors I couldn't use in my MOCs, and there was nothing there for either of us. Bear in mind that we have bought Elves and even Friends sets just for parts, and yet there were just not enough parts in a Nexo set by comparison to make it worthwhile. We are very happy to see it go.

Both of us would like to see a return to a classic themed castle. If that is like the old traditional castle sets, the fantasy era with fantastic creatures, even vikings, whatever... we would be happy with any of it. Personally, I think a fantasy based castle theme set in the middle ages would be popular with all the MMORPG fans (WoW etc.), D&D gamers, LoTR fans, and all the other fantasy fans out there, as well as producing plenty of parts and themes useful to traditional castle MOCers, so there's something for everyone. I hope they don't phone it in with the sets like they did with the 2013 Castle release. Rehashing old sets is fine, but they could really do some neat sets with both civilian sets as others have said here, but also some fun things like a wizard's tower, perhaps done in a round style, or even (hopefully!) a really neat modular line of walls and towers that could combine to form a castle of whatever ilk one wanted (not holding my breath here). Even a sculpture line (like Big Ben or something) would be welcome. Let's hope for the best!

So just as an observation, we all would like to see new castle sets produced, and I really do think and wonder that we may have something big on the horizon. The reason I say this is the fact the there have seemed to be quite a few well known castle MOCers, whom have been steadily vanishing the last couple of years. I know they are still Building and alive, but there castle mocs have all but dried up. And I remember a couple saying that they were going to be designers at Lego... So mabye something is in the works ☺

That's quite interesting. Do you remember where you saw this?

Would you happen to have any links? I'm skeptical but hopeful that they're working on/helping with a new theme. :)
