cardboard shields
Obviously lego doesnt release info on future sets, but i am assuming there is no problem with propogation of official information already realeased in another venue.
The folks at the toy fair who gave us those great images most likely know if the minifig shields are cardboard or ABS. Why do they know? they know because lego let them check out the products. So i'm thinking lego wont have a problem passing the same info on to us, no?

They're most likey plastic shields, as in ABS. You can take a look at the "Gauntlet" set. The Green Knight's shield handle is about the same as the oval shield.

And a base plate! Ever since then we get these thick bricks as baseplates instead.timber_wolf899 wrote:actually the big frigh tknight castle wasnt that bad. build on a flat plate, the novel concept of the second floor, and a murder hole!
granted the color scheme sucked and a solid gate would have been nice.....
