Post by Athos »

Hey all...

Brickset found some pictures of the 2004 sets. Looks like there are some prices too. Here is the link:

What the??? some of the Harry Potter sets have changed!

Knight's Kingdom - ten bucks for a catapult, horse and two figs???? LEGO must be mad!

Well, the Harry Parter sets look good for parts though...

That site has a "list" price more like the fairy tale prices KB charged, but the price they are selling it for on all the other Lego products seems to be the real MSRP, so those are probably very close to the prices we will see at WalMart, Target, etc. One can hope that they are gouging a bit and the real prices will be cheaper, but 8780 is the traditional $50 set size, and 8781 is the traditional $90 set size, and that's just about what this site is charging, so if the final pricing is different, it won't be by much, I imagine.

8777 $8.95. Too much. $7, maybe, $8 would be pushing it. At $9 it's a big sale or forget it.

8778 $20.95. Two of these or another Black Falcon Fortess? Easy choice. I really wanted to buy several of this and 8777, but I won't buy any at these prices.

8779 $27.75. 191 pieces. Well, I thought this a turkey anyway.

8780 $48.45. 456 pieces. Finally a price I expected. With the two small sets vastly over-priced, this is looking like the only set I'll buy initially (and even then, it will probably wait until some small 20-25% off sale).

8781 $90.25. 456 pieces. Same piece count as the $50 dollar set?

Some observations. The boxes don't look to be final products - a row of XXXXXXX's presumably as placeholders for the set name, and virtually no words on the sides, where there is usually at least a set number or maybe name. So, that 456 piece count on the two large sets may be inaccurate for either or both, though I don't count on it judging by the actual models. And perhaps the prices are just Zooscape's best guess.

Gawd. Those prices... *shakes head*

I hope TwoTonic is right when he says that the prices may change...

At least HP seems to be yellow figures. And HP has maybe 10 nice new accesories/minifig stuff (Some new looking ghosty thingmajig, Buckbeak, Dogs). Otherwise...... 2004 ain't a stellar year.

:x I really have no idea what Lego is trying to do to itself. Event though there are nice pieces, the sets are beyond repulsive.

What's up with those boxes? Is Castle going mainstream?

I want my nice decorated tanish-yellow hued boxes for Castle! :P It really is no big deal, but I wonder why TLC decided not to differentiate the different lines....
