The Second Castle Legends Poll

Member Reejoc has reported according to Jan Beyer of the LEGO Community Team that no more Castle Legend sets are planned.
Reejoc wrote:It's a clear no I'm afraid - the reasons being that they would be difficult and expensive to produce now that the colour palate has changed and many of the pieces are discontinued.
The future of LEGO Castle Legends could be at stake if we do not give feedback to LEGO about the issue. In my role as a third round LEGO Ambassador, I will get your thoughts back to the company.

All indications show that we will have blue grey (bley) bricks for some time if not permanently. Are you willing to have Castle Legends with blue grey bricks?

The image above is for color demonstration purposes only.

A redesigned Legend would make substitutions for these accessories and bricks which could alter the appearance of the original set. Sets using specialized pieces (which are probably discontinued) like the pitchfork, yellow castle visors, raised baseplates, etc would be at risk for redesign. Would you buy Castle Legends with changes like these?

Please answer the poll and then post which choice you made, which country/region you are from, why you made your choice.

Good topic, Ben. I voted that I wouldn't buy one. I am not against new castles in bley, but I would rather they were new designs. Trying to release Legends in new colors and with different parts just doesn't do anything for me. I bought the Legend release of the Guarded Inn and it wasn't the same. I am glad I have one, but even the minor substitutions bothered me. If new Legends came out that were even more different, it would be extremely disappointing.

I would like to say Old sets reproduced in Bley will definitely be a disappointment ~HOWEVER~ if i were asked to choose between bley legends or no legends I would rather choose the necessary evil, if that is a choice. Legends are some of the only life line of the hope of ever getting classic revived, even in a different hue it will be a good thing to castle fans.

I have already missed both the legend releases and dont plan of missing any in the future. Even with changed hue and/or design i will choose them over Jellybeans in a heartbeat.

Quite honestly, I won't purchase a bley Legend.

For alot of AFOLs, amassing a large quantity of bley is simply out of the question, and a line like this is targeted squarely at the AFOL community.

Of course, that doesn't mean that there aren't other options. I would eagerly purchase a redesigned 375 in a more appealing colour (say tan for example), with redesigned minifigs (using newer visors). To me, something like this would be a great Legend.

In the alternative, I would also look at some of the black castles (6085, 6086, 6090), where the use of bley would be less pronounced. I'm simply not all that keen on an all-bley fortress, nor would I purchase one.

Later.

Not having an especially extensive collection of old grey bricks, it makes very little difference to me whether a potential legend would have a large quantity of these. However,
A redesigned Legend would make substitutions for these accessories and bricks which could alter the appearance of the original set.
makes me leery. How much can you change the same set before it ceases to be the same set it was? I would rather buy a legend of a set that never had a pitchfork at all rather that one that had a pitchfork originally but now has a shovel or something.
It seems to me, though, that that particular issue is fairly moot - after all, when LEGO released the Black Falcon's Fortress, for example, not only did they re-release parts with special printing on them (e.g. flags), but also used pieces like the grill helms which hadn't been seen for several years.

I would buy a bley legend. I have a far bigger bley collection than old gray, so it would be even better for me. I would buy new legends for sure.

I would buy either a redesign or an accurate legend in bley, but I didn't have the choice to vote for that. So, I chose to vote for redesign hoping that you would add the two bley categories together (or at least take them both into account). Like others has stated, as long as it's castle I'm interested.

Coming in bley with part substitution, I'd hesitate to call them Legends -- more on a level of Folklore.

And yes, I would buy a Lego Folklore set. The older designs are just more appealing to me than KK2 and Vikings (though the Viking figs are great).

Sounds good. I would buy them only if redesigned; if the color is new, it isn't the same thing. But "Folklore" works fine!

I voted buy accurate blue grey Legend. Classic grey isn't coming back, but Classic Castle always could :D

BFF if released now, with bley instead of grey, would have people buying it just for the figs! After buying a couple copies, putting them together to make a bigger castle, some people (being those peole who are currently anti-bley) may say, "Not that bad. Now if I only had more bley...." Not all, but some may have this reaction.

If Legends is a no go, then 2nd generation Classic Castle. Bring back the same factions (make EVERYBODY happy) with new sets built in a similar style to the sets of the 80's, early 90's. As has been commented on in posts about Vladek's Dark Fortress, it was built on plates...just like those old sets...hhmmmm.

Are you willing to have Castle Legends with blue grey bricks?
Absolutely!!! (unless there's still some light grey left over)

The issue of light grey vs. bley is trivial in my opinion.
The color difference isn't that big and if you get the lighting right, you'll barely notice the difference in pictures.

Let's face it, a Castle Legend bley or not, would be better than any Castle sets they're selling today.
Bring back the same factions (make EVERYBODY happy) with new sets built in a similar style to the sets of the 80's, early 90's.
I would also support this option.

I wouldn't buy a bley legend. For me (a diehard anti-bleyist) it would be more like an insult to see a bley 6080. That said I wouldn't mind non-grey legends at all : )

God Bless,

Nathan

I would buy 'em

I would buy em, regardless of the color of the brick. Right now, I would be most interested in a re-release of many of the classic castle figs -- and I suspect a lot of other folks are as well.

Anyone can download (or buy) plans for some of the classic sets, and (as there are not a lot of parts in there), get the required brick from Bricklink if they don't have it already.

However, the figs are the difficult part -- as are the accessories.

Soooo, I suppose I'd buy them all! :)

I wouldn't buy it-
it just wouldn't be a "Legend" if they made it in a NEW color and possible changes.
How can you call it a legend if it is new....?
