I always wondered if there was a Mercury outboard between the rudders making it go. And it probably would have just fallen forward it the water from the weight of the dragon prow. Nice the army builder though. I lifted the dragon head directly to my small Viking ship at BF PDX, but that ship is ten times larger. Alas for the hey-day of castles!

I don't consider this set as a good one.
It nicier than many new small sets Lego made, but in other way, it's poorly done.

As 2 peoples said, it's unbalanced. Plus the oars are strangely placed. I guess it could be hard to push a boat with the way they placed oars. I think the dragon head could have been better done.
7/10

For the prices. I don't think where you looked for the prices, but 1547 on bricklink are all between 11,95$us and 16.50$us. For 6086 you have 130$us, 140$us, 145$us and 449$ !!! But again the 449$ one is a MISB set.

That's not so expensive. When you look for MISB sets it's expensive, but in general, used sets are relatively normal price.

This set was a nice little crossing the river or moat boat. Yes, no one is rowing the thing, but for getting a knight and his barrel of possessions across the big blue wet thing this boat was perfect. I personally got two of these things. The regular conscripts are now archers and the Knights are altered to avoid cloning.
And yes, that is what this set is good for, fleshing out one's army and maybe building another little viking-esque type of long boat with two or more added together. Standing alone it was, not the greatest (i.e. the small set of the black knight on horse, which number I forget), but really good. Together with other sets and parts and pieces it was a wonderful world expander.
And, in comparison with today's sets, it is sorely missed my castle stable sweeping friends. Time for the old regretful refrain of time traveling back to buy a dozen or so.

I like this set it is one of several boats I have original in sealed box. It was a cheap source of minifigures.

Yes, no one is actually paddling it, yes, it is unbalanced, but it is evocative of a silent raider in the curiously compact world of minifigs. It's probably better with the steering oars used as paddles and the figurehead knocked off, but then it would just be a sad little shell more useful as a weekend punt.

For a little boat with two figs, this isn't TOO bad. It's actually decently-sized, and isn't bad-looking. As already noted, it is somewhat unbalanced, and how it precisely moves is a bit of mystery to me. Still, all in all, it's not bad. The figs are nice!

I like this set a lot - it was one of the first sets I got after my dark age.

Cool dragon head boat, two nice figs. The perfect small fighting vessel for the Black Monarch's fresh-water battles.

8/10

I like this set. the boat isn't the best, but it comes with two figures, and although the boat isn't the greatest because of it's small size, it is a good design, and those inverted slopes are good for space ships and the like.

I'm a sucker for boats of any kind (except the most recent KK2 one) and I almost bought it, but I never saw it in stores when I had that money to spend...

This one is nice. I like the simple dragon face and have used variations of it in a couple vignettes. Also a nice way to get two generic fully equiped soldiers.

I'd love to see more like this. 8/10.

My guess is that the piece at the back just holds the oars, maybe they are coasting in the picture or they are at the dock. I like that the ship comes with two figures, a knight and a foot soldier! That's a big plus. This is a good ship for ferrying a small river, but not something you'd be using in a naval battle.

Figs/Accessories: 7.5/10

However heavy the front might be the dragon head out of small parts is something we don't see anymore. It would be a very welcome change. I think the oar assmbly at the rear is supposed to be more like a back-and-forth movement propulsion (I know it' stationary) but that's what I always thought.

A decent army builder, plus several other parts that are desired (i.e. barrel) plus the number of small parts in this set would make it one I would buy several, if not many more, copies of today!

Not overly spectacular, the colours are a slight drawback. However, this set is versatile enough to be used on its own as a voyaging vessel, or in multitudes for naval battles. However, better small boats can be found in the pirate line.

I have 2 copies of that value pack. If i was into army building, i would have bought dozens. Of course, I was like 6 at the time. So :P

That boat is really nice, though. There weren't, and still aren't, enough castle boats.

I'll give it an 8/10.

I really like this set, because it has two minifigs, and it has a cool boat. It's great for a small armada, or a landing force.

I like the fact that you have to actually BUILD the dragon head prow, but as folks here have said the boat's size is very small for the rather large figure is a little goofy. BUT...with that being said the base of the boat can be used to combine it with another set, or expand the single set to something a little larger.

I think its best feature is that of an army builder with the two mini figures that are included.

If it were put out today I would scoop up as many as I could. You gotta have an army to man your boats!

Overall I give it a 7/10.
