Weekly Minifig Review: King

Post by Danju the Clever »

Join the (unnoficial) Weekly Minifig Reveiw! Post on color scheme, parts, preference, etc. Which minifigs stand up to our sword of critique and which are slain in shame!

This week's minifig is: King!

King was released for the Royal Knights and uses one of the first bearded faces. He wears a rare frayed cape with the faction emblem.

I am perticularly fond of the Lion knights, and their king. I remember my brothers and I buying many of the small set that has the king and a horse. (I apologize, I can never remember the name of sets). My only complaint is the crown, it has that... neck protector? I also don't get how to get the capes with only one hole to stay down
All in all, it is a good figure.

faaantastic figure. he came exclusively in royal knight's castle, as the fig the above poster mentions did not have this fig's most excellent cloth cape. that castle was my favorite castle of all time (playability and fun factor was through the roof) and this king seemed to me to be the perfect king. i also don't know of any fig off the top of my head (no pun intended) that his face comes on. also, he's one of the few redheaded minifigs around.

The crown kept falling off my minifigs too, so I got my grandfather to glue the helmets on. Now in my box of minifig heads i've got two with crowns stuck on.

Great cape though, and the crown was definately one of my favourite pieces back then.

I like this guy. Great face, great torso- not so great cape, and I've got a million crowns. The versatility of the torso is marvellous- Jester, king, fancy knight...

The colour scheme and goofy face make him look more like the court jester. However, I still think that it shows good artistry on LEGO's part.

Ah. That would explain it. But of course, is chain mail made of gold? Because of the odd color of the chain mail, it looks a little too much like a crown with a... I'll say it again, a kind of a neck protector. Thanks for the info.
I agree that the figure is great for court jesters, and I also use his torso mixed and matched for a pretty good looking noble...

All in all an excellent figure. The crown is the only down side. Wouldn't it have been cool if in the small set "6008 Royal King" had a useful helm to go with the crown?

My favorite LEGO King! Probably because he was the first. I actually like the crown, the neck guard adds to the medieval flavour. I do agree however that a simpler crown would be nice too - for the queen :) As already said this fig has a great torso & head that are very reusable.

Its great to have a king. This guy, however, is a bit too colorful for me. I prefer the one with the white legs that came with the King's Carriage.

I have always liked this guy, because he was the first set I ever bought with my own money. I got the $3.00 set with him on his horse. I still have him, although his toso is slightly cracked.

This always was my favorite king for three reasons: nice cape, nice expression, and great torso. :)

This little guy is absolutely terrible. I hate nearly everything about him. I hate the crown, I hate the face (mainly due to the red hair), I hate the torso, and for crying out load, the king is wearing jeans. The only thing I did like (and that was only marginal), was the cape.

I have about 2 to 3 of these guys in my collection and they NEVER see the light of day. The king has been banished to the bottom of the collection.

This King is a nice addition to LEGO Kings. As usual, most King's are ok if you have one and not 30. This one also came in a smaller set, 6044 King's Carraige. My personal favorite is the Chess King: http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/2586.html
