Major Project:Japanese Village

I have started work on my first Major Project. I am building a japanese village. I am first building all of the different buildings. Then I will build the terrain, then put the two together.

Here is what I have at this point.

As you can tell, this project will take a long time, but hopefully it will be worthwhile when done!

I really like them, especially the barracks. I can wait to see the whole village.
Instead of having the sword loose on the armor shrine, try making something to hold it up

They're all nice, but I think you need to research more on how Japanese buildings look like and you should build one of those sword stands for the Armor Shrine.
You know, 2 swords displayed on top of the other. All you need is:
2- black 1x4 plates
4- black 1x1 tile w/ top clip
2- black 1x1 bricks
2- black 1x1 plates
2- black 1x2 plates

I really like the armor shrine. I actually kind of like the fact that the sword is just laying on the floor like that... as if someone laid it there in memory of its owner.

Getting along nicely. I really can't add to anything else that people have said but you should do the shrine however you want. Feel free to keep it how it is or make a rack.(I personally would make a rack of some sort though) just some thoughts

i cant wait to see mor eof this how bigf will it be, i agree with the other people ,try and make a stand for the sword but its entirly up to you

Hey Barbapple,

Those are looking good, it has the feel of being asiatic without needing to be completely historically accurate. I like the barracks and the armor shrine. The fire pots look kind of strange on the pagoda and the roof looks like it needs a bit of work, but the doors are fantastic. Keep working on it and I'm sure your project will turn out great.

Keith Goldman who usualy dabbles in .space made a wonderful japanese fishing village a couple of years ago. It's not on brinkshelf, but mocpages dot com I think. you should do a search, see what he did, and up the ante! Looking very good so far, can't wait to see the finished product!

Looks cool. I've got several of the ninja sets and have always wanted to do some ninja themed story, so I'll be interested to see how your project develops.

There are some great asian-themed projects out there. For inspiration, check out http://news.lugnet.com/castle/ninja/ and just click back through the archives. That sub-group gets very little traffic, so basically the only threads are when someone posts a new creation and people respond, so it is easy to find the MOCs.
