Which weapon is more "Elvish"?

Mine has got to be curved swords. I use ninja swords for longswords, and cutlasses for short swords.Elf post:viewtopic.php?t=1045

Spears or straight swords - I just can't see Keltic or Scandanavian based elfs with curved swords. Certainly not in Tolkien. Seems more of a John Howe or Alan Lee influence on the films than any mythic tradition.

Of course, everyone is free to ignore mythic traditions. :D

I agree with TwoTonic. I voted Short Swords because of LOTR
Space rocks.

I voted straight swords because of Tolkien: my primary influence in the realm of elvendom. Also, my elves use straight swords. For all the exact reasons, I refer you to my posts on this page: viewtopic.php?t=1045&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15

I must admit though, that spear/pike was a close second: partly because my own elven forces are equipped with spears, and because of Gil-galad and his spear Aiglos.

Curved swords probably are not the best weapon. However, since men use the short sword, it's about the only option. Of cource, to date all my elves have only had bows and knives so I really haven't given it much thought.

The answer is probably bows but since it's not what you meant (since there is not such an option on the survey) I'll go with spears.

I chose curved swords, because I give my elves katanas. Sure, maybe it doesn't fit in with Tolkien or with European mythology, but I think it looks more elegant than a straight sword, and that's the look I'm going for.

I would have to say spears. To me elves seem like the people who would just pop out of bushes and pelt the enemy with arrows and spears. Or any other distance weapon.
