Well, I tend to use sideways ladders, especially in animal pens. I don't know why, after all Lego does make real fence pieces...hmmm, I guess it's just my look :)?

Fence pieces.

Or bricks.

Or nothing. (I'm not so big on baseplates that I have many Town creations, and I really only use them there. None of my Castle creations would need them. I mean, a fenced castle?)

Fences work well in medieval town settings. You need a place to keep your custom pigs, cows and chickens.

As for what I use, bricks and plates. Specifically brown 1 x 1 bricks and brown 1 x n plates. Nice effect but it can get costly.

A = variable

I usually create a row of 1x1 bricks and then place a 1xA plate (or plates) on top of those. After that, I put another row of 1x1 bricks on top of the plates where the bottom row of bricks are.

I like the brick and plate method too. I use rounded bricks though.

Hmmm, never thought about it before, mainly because I never use fences. if I were, well I can't say, it would be different depending on the situation.

I am not a cloner! I have never been a cloner and I have never known anyone who is a cloner. I did go to that one cloner meeting in the 40's, but that was to meet girls.

I do think you are right though, this topic belongs in MOCs. Does anyone have pics of the fences they have made? Post them here.

Mostly with brown logs. Sometimes with a brown plate or tile 1xn on top, for some difference between the fences.
1x1 rounds are useful for suggesting poles between the fences 8)

Pigs?
I use the KK2 knights :x
*And the bulls arrive in kk2*
Cedric the bull: "Hahaha Leo we're here to- wtf?"
*and the bulls see some happy knights bouncing at each other with carts*
Cedric (shocked): "I guess we got the wrong KK''
Bull soldier (frightened): "Lets go back"

For my fences, I like to use the flat/tile plates with snot pieces to hold them horizontally. I think it gives an effect of a fence without looking too modern.
