The Doors of... umm... Formeathan... yeah...

Post by SavaTheAggie »

Ok, so the doors don't really have a name, but I thought they were neat.

I'm actually mainly posting this to bring light to the MOC doors that were the inspiration for my MOC doors, which are found on an equally awesome MOC. Follow me...

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=34932

Anyway, my doors didn't turn out as cool, or even as cool as I was hoping for, but my solution to my lack of enough 1x2 tiles is growing on me. Kinda looks spirally and artsy. I also couldn't make my doors 9 (odd number) wide, so that posed another design challenge.

Yes, I like these old looking door leaves very much. Very convincing.
With a well choosen architrave, it will be a outstanding entrance.

I think those doors look great! The lack of 1x2 tiles may have worked out for you, (because) now the doors look arcane. I would think twice about opening that set of doors...

Edit: I looked in your brickshelf folder you linked to above, and came to the conclusion that you're crazy when it comes to tiles...

Your absolutly right, we need more moc doors and even windows too.

I must say those are very detailed, especially for such an overlooked location. Rather than settle for the premade, you did it yourself.

The results are incredible,

P.S. Kudos to the insiration moc builder

 :D Great, period.

Not that I'm suggesting anything, but I just wonder how they'll look in brown.... :D

Unfortunately, to my knowledge, 1x4 plate hinges never were made available in brown. I also don't think 1x1 plates were either, but since the design calls for them to be covered up with a 1x1 tile, it's probably moot.

However, doors such as these would most likely have black hardware, so it'd be relatively easy to change it up to make it look right.

Anthony,

Great doors, man! Makes me want to build some MOC doors. Details like that are what makes me wish I were more creative.

How did I miss these?

I like the doors Anthony, they look great! It is funny, I had a pattern I designed using the 1 x 2 hopper plates. I like the geometric look achieved by this method. I may try a black and brown variation of these door for my next MOC.

After a long absence, I have returned. I can't wait to start building again.
