Colossal Castle Contest: Rules Revision

Post by architect »

Hi CC members,

We changed a few things in the contest rules. You now can enter creations in multiple contests. These creations still have to meet our category requirements.

LDraw is ok for submissions. You have to use readily available pieces, do not use large quantities of rare colors, pieces, or minifigures.

The submissions can not have been posted online before November 20th 2003. Sorry, that is how it has to be to make it fair to everyone.

Meeting Category requirements: The Classic Castle City Standards should be followed for the CCC categories. This means you can not build a huge castle, for any category (even miscellaneous). You can build parts of a large castle such as wall sections with buildings attached to it, a tower, a gatehouse, or a keep.

You may also build non-western castle creations for the CCC categories, as long as they fit the standard. But we are looking mainly for western castle creations.

Ldraw isn't really fair. Someone who is good in LDRAW could build an Entire CCC that would be impossible to build in real life by anyone but TLG..

Matt,

Ldraw IS fair for a number of reasons.

1 - It allows people who don't have a digital camera or scanner to participate.

2 - It allows people who have an extremely small collection to participate.

3 - Ldraw, MLCAD, Lpub and all Lego related software is 100% free - which means you could use it just as easily as anyone else can.

4 - Ldraw is limited to released pieces in released colors in reasonable amounts (ie, no army of 50 figs with black swords, etc) - which means, Ldraw must be used as a digital version of real bricks.

5 - there is no category for an entire 3CS town - all entries must meet a category, which are specifically designed to be on a scale open to everyone.
