Curved Slope Stairways
Curved Slope Stairways
Added winding stairway.
I honestly don't know if anybody has done these before but they're similar designs used for my latest SW MOC.
Looks like they can be used also for castle, what do you think of them?

To be honest, I have not seen them done by someone else before. All I know is their a little stroke of genius and would look great incorporated into a Castle build.

That is a great look. I can see many applications for that. I also love the Hagrid Statues in the background. I have like 10 of those guys and I hadn't a clue what to do with them...

Re: Curved Slope Stairways
These are very nice, and definitely applicable to castle creations.

Hey AC,
Those look really nice. I also really like the giant statues on either side of the right-hand pictures. Actually, if you'd just change the figs, these MOCs would be perfect as castle settings.

The staircases looked nice, but what caught my eye mos were those statues on either side of them

Those are pretty cool, and would look amazing in a great hall or in front of a gate or something. Yeah, I don't think I've seen them made around either, so neat idea!

I started with the regular 1 stud width brown bricks on their sides capped with tiles. Then ran out of them and all I had in the brown bricks box was a Ziploc full of curved sloped 1x6 bricks, the rest is history or an accidental stroke of genius!Justin M wrote:To be honest, I have not seen them done by someone else before. The Hagrid statues have been used in an old MOC before.Fraslund wrote:That is a great look. I can see many applications for that. I also love the Hagrid Statues in the background. I have like 10 of those guys and I hadn't a clue what to do with them...
That's what I thought as well.Eklund wrote:These are very nice, and definitely applicable to castle creations.
The statues are actually modded from another SW MOC done a couple of years back. Now that would've been too easy, but I do plan on building a castle MOC using these curved slope stairways.Bruce N H wrote:Hey AC,

There are two more statues on both sides ground level. Better yet, go view the MOC thread for full details.Sir Bragallot wrote:The staircases looked nice, but what caught my eye mos were those statues on either side of them
As I've mentioned I'll definitely incorporate these designs in some future MOCs.Aeridian wrote:Those are pretty cool, and would look amazing in a great hall or in front of a gate or something. Yeah, I don't think I've seen them made around either, so neat idea!

Re: Curved Slope Stairways
This stairway feels incomplete. The 'wings' on the ends need to have a 1x2 or 1x3 brick under them (or should I say 'behind them' for the SNOT technique) to fill out each step. For me, the empty space at the ends of each step detracts from the enjoyment of the whole creation.

Re: Curved Slope Stairways
I would tend to agree with you on that. Also, obviously size is a constraint, but I'd like to see the tread of each step be just a tad deeper as well.
Great technique though. Ideas in their infancy almost always benefit from a little bit of tweaking

I see what you mean but this MOC is done for.footsteps wrote:This stairway feels incomplete. Talking about tweaks, just added a winding stairway.AK_Brickster wrote:I would tend to agree with you on that. Also, obviously size is a constraint, but I'd like to see the tread of each step be just a tad deeper as well.

Re: Curved Slope Stairways
That winding staircase is fantastic. Great job!
