"The Purple Knight"

Post by SSchmidt »

So I was able to acquire to really rare pieces from lamanda, a fellow user on this forum. Lamanda was selling off her collection. While it is saddening to see a valued member of the LEGO community depart the hobby, I was very honored she was willing to sell me a nice chunk of her valued collection! Two pieces on this knight were part of that; the Purple Bullet helm and purple halberd.

If I remember correctly I paid $9.00 for the helm and $3.00 for the halberd. Interestingly enough, this is one of my most prized investments in LEGO to this date. While the price gap is incredibly significant, I would hazard I was about as equally excited to get this helm and halberd, as I was building the Tower of Orthanc! My personal sets I can buy and store away to build whenever I want; but rare pieces are well.... rare! As such, they are a much more valuable part of my collection.
I ended up purchasing around $140.00 worth of LEGO from Amanda. When the package arrived, I opened the envelope and immediately found these two pieces. I don't think I even got anything else out of the packaging until I had first got these out, examined them, and squealed with delight! I was like a child at Disney World. :)

Thank you so much Amanda, for selling me part of your collection. I promise to take the utmost care of it and show the pieces off whenever able! I am so happy to have these pieces in my collection.

Anyway, they have went to create "The purple knight." He is my new "Badge Buddy" for future LEGO conventions, as I intend to display him proudly! Without a doubt, this is my most favorite minifigure I have ever assembled.

I feel like I need to have a purple torso instead of a white. What are your thoughts? I currently have no purple torsos in my collection. If others think it would look better than white (as I do), then I will purchase one from bricklink.

Comments and Criticism (well lets be honest, how can you possibly criticize such a fantastical minifigure?!? (apart from the torso)) welcome!

Thanks for viewing my purple knight. As silly/embarrassing as it sounds to say this as a grown man, he really means a lot to me. I absolutely adore this minifigure. Us AFOL's can be weird, but I feel like I can share this weirdness with all of you :tasty:

Until Brickfair VA, "the purple knight" will be displayed proudly alongside my "2nd Age Elrond" and "Blue coat Bilbo Baggins!"

That's really awesome. The minifig has some sort of "Classical" feeling to it, which makes it great! :D
And purple is awesome colour, indeed! ;)

This is awesome SSchmidt! I love it, so cool looking! :D I think it needs a purple torso as well. Like GyustSil said, it has a "Classical" feel to it, like you mixed Classic Space with Castle. :D

Nice fig! Just a few touches of purple like in the NinjaGo Skeleton vehicles looks great!

He's pretty awesome alright! I would suggest using the Laketown guard torso/body (with arms swapped out for purple of course) if you've got it. I think it looks fantastic with the purple helm/halberd combo!

Of course, to keep the classic feel, just swapping in a simple purple torso under the armor might be best.

Purple always good. I got a couple of the helmets a while ago but the halberd in purple I have yet to acquire.

Anyways the fig is nice and the background scene you put here in is also good.

If you're not that bothered about the red wizard hat, maybe you can pass it my way... :p

Cool little fig, colouring blocking always looks great. Yes a purple torso would look better, can't think of a plain one off the top of my head, but sure there must be one you could use.

This is an awesome minifigure Schmidt!! Purple seems to be a rare colour and to have an almost completely purple minifig outfitted with a purple halberd and helm is great!

@Brickninja - I agree! It is a very pretty color, regardless of gender. Thanks!

@Gyustsil - I think part of the reason he feels classic, is there is no design or emblem anywhere on him and that he has the class face. That face is my favorite face of all time. I don't, however, use it that often.

@mpoh98 - Thanks Matthew. I am glad to have some confirmation on the purple torso. I will track one down.

@josdu - Thanks buddy!

@Lord Mercat - I have over 10 of the laketown polybag unopened, but I just can't bring myself to open them :? I'm just going to have to pay a premium and bricklink one. I think I would rather have a plain purple torso if there is one (surely there is). I want to keep him as simple as possible.

@Purple Wolf - The bullet helm is my favorite helm, so I love seeing it in unique colors. I have a chrome one as well. I would recommend you get a halberd to go with your helm(s).

@andhe - I actually think my next project is going to be "the red wizard," so sorry, I can't send it. I'm still wondering how good he will look though if I try to make him with a "classic-feel" like this one.

@Sir Valiant - Thanks man! I really enjoy rarer pieces.

@ludzik - Thanks for the advice, I am going to get him one!

I know there are some on BL but I wouldn't match them up with my helmets there already used

But looking at yours I may make get some more of both pieces so that they can be matched up.

Nice classic style fig! I have a couple of purple torsos : a purple knight with gear from one of the kingdoms sets, a really cool purple shield from a star wars set with Jar Jar Binks, and a purple torso and cape from a Harry Potter set with Dumbledore.
