In celebration of our new server, we are announcing a contest with the purpose of fun.

Contest: Taste the Rainbow!

What?
This is a month long contest. It begins April 1st (no this is not an April Fools Joke…we pretty much only put those on the front page) and ends April 30th, midnight server time.

Details?

Pick a color that Skittles candy is made in…and build a castle on a 32x32 baseplate in that color. The castle must be at least 90% that color. The focus should be on the castle. Landscaping is epic and great, but the castle is what will be judged.

If you don’t know what Skittles are or what colors they are made in:
https://skittles.com/

Building restrictions?
Other than keep it on the baseplate, and keep it the color it needs to be. Nope. Yes, you must use a baseplate.

Who?
Anyone can build except for the judging panel, and they know who they are.

Why?
For FUN! Because sometimes a lovely Skittle colored castle just makes you smile!Because we all have this beautiful colorful bricks laying around neglected or used for filler. They deserve some play time too.

Prize?
Well that hasn’t been determined yet, but it will be very soon. Once it has been, this post will be updated with it.

Can I build micro?
Yep.

Awesome! Where to I post my entry?
To this thread please.

Um…what about the photo restrictions?

Well, you must follow forum rules for posting to the forum. But when it comes to judging, as long as the photos are easy to access, and not violating forum rules (in other words do not post more than 4 images to the forum and keep them within the forum size restrictions), you can link to whatever you need to show off your build.

How many entries can I build?

Three

Oh and all entries must follow the TOS. The admins of CC reserve the right to remove/edit any entry that violates the TOS.

Please post your questions to this thread. I will get to them as soon as I can, which may take a day.

_____________

And now for the prize...or prizes. There will be three.

But first, we need to discuss VAT and all other annoying things that happen when shipping LEGO internationally. If you win, I will contact you and ask you to tell me which is the best option for shipping to you. If you live in a country where you have to pay VAT for new LEGO being shipped to you, and you choose for me to ship it to you misb, boxed...then it is your responsibility to pay that VAT.

Now to the prizes, pictures will follow when I have the time to take said pictures. In the fine tradition that Aliencat and I started with our previous contests, there will be three prizes all are misb.

1st Prize: 79004 Barrel Escape

2nd Prize: 79001 Escape from Mirkwood Spiders & 30213 Gandalf at Dol Guldur

3rd Prize: 30215 Legolas Greenleaf & 70400 Forest Ambush

I hope these please you. I have tried to be generous, as I always am with prizes.

Ironic how most of my bricks in those colours are currently being used as filler... Still might have to try and do something. I do like yellow castles, after all.

Are the colors themselves open to interpretation, or do you have Skittle colors mapped to specific Lego colors?

Example, can I build a Green castle, or must it be Lime Green?

Can the castle be built on multiple smaller baseplates that have a 32x32 footprint if we want to add hinged openings?

In the other flavors of Skittles, particularly in the Darkside bag, there was a true green so yep you can use that.

See here for the other bags and the flavors:

The baseplate is so the judges can tell the size. As long as you can show the size is 32x32, then sure you can do what you wish.

A very intriguing contest!
Quick question: do we have to pick only one Skittle color, or can we use several different ones, provided they take up 90% of the MoC?
