Tonight the world watches Scotland, wondering what tomorrow's news will bring. With all of this attention, let's share our favorite Scottish-themed MOCs. It could be something new, or old, something you built, or something you found on Flickr. Scotland has inspired lots of MOCs, from William Wallace, to castles, to Nessie, to bagpipers, to Hadrian's Wall. Show us your best Scottish inspiration. Please no political debate on the actual vote - there are tons of places online to do that.

I knew that someone would build something about! It was a matter of time. God bless that beautiful country. We have a lot of fans of LEGO there!

Well, I guess they're staying. I really can't say if that's good or bad, for I know next to nothing about the situation. Though, the folks in the picture in the article looked pretty happy.

I don't recall where it was, but didn't Brickmania have a really big and detailed Scottish Castle? I seem to remember seeing that.

I don't know about Brickmania, but Bob Carney has a number of Scottish castles for those interested.

Hey,

Here are some things I found, celebrating all things LEGO Scottish. Click the images to see the originals.

Several MOCs out there based on the history of William Wallace and the film Braveheart. Rather than try to do a comprehensive listing, I'll just point out that last year Lukasz Wiktorowicz made a whole series of Braveheart MOCs for the CCC, including these two:

Okay, one more, Blake Baer's Raid on Scone:

Various kilt-wearing figures and/or bagpipers out there, both purist and custom. Bruno VW made these Miniland scale Highlanders:

Gaetano Dooms made this nice purist Scottish Halberdier:

Of course in the Collectible series there is a bagpiper, but before that Martijn van Bachum made his own:

BTW, here's my favorite Bagpiper - Karf Oohlu's mashup of CMFs:

Nessie, of course:

Or Hunting in the Loch by Digger1221:

To be more true-to-life, Urquhart is a ruin by Loch Ness (here from Legoland Windsor). There are other Scottish sites featured in Legoland Windsor as well, including the Edinburgh Castle from which I included a detail at the top of this thread.

Speaking of real castles, Overload already pointed us to Bob Carney's site. You should go see them all.

Various Brave MOCs out there (and an official set), I'll just go with Adam Dodge's Merida:

Anyway, whether as it's own nation or as part of the United Kingdom, Scotland has inspired lots of LEGO building.
