Colossal Castle Contest 13
Re: Colossal Castle Contest 13
Can you (actually me) change people or animals in one entry? Like one version with two fellas dueling and another with a herd of dogs?

To which time period are we limited too?

Of us, the ancient legends told,
We will return
The folk of old,
To help to free the yonder land
Of evil that is close at hand.

My apologies to the admins for adding to the list of questions, but with respect to the 32x32 plate requirement, how does it work with mounts, vehicles, etc.? For instance, if I build a scene that fully fits on a 32x32, but I want to move a vehicle, like a cart or something, partially off the plate for better camera angles, does that negate the 32x32 requirement? I am wondering where on the plate I should build my building if I would like to have a vehicle as well.
Thanks in advance!

I just have a quick question, for the undead siege category do you have to actually show the fortresses walls or can you just have the lines of besiegers dug in? Because most actual historical sieges did not even involve all out frontal assaults.

Question: How do I find my UserID?

Question(s?) twenty-something, maybe early thirties...
So in contrast to previous CCC's (Except maybe 12, I wasn't around for that one): We are allowed 5 pictures instead of 3, and they can be 1600 x 1280 pixels instead of 800x600, right?

Re: Colossal Castle Contest 13
Sorry, I've been largely off-line for the past couple of weeks. I've started approving entries (about 30 this afternoon) and will get around to updating the naughty list when I finish going through those. First, though, I wanted to address some of the pending questions that have piled up:
26 - We already have entries in which some of the objects and/or figs are moved between pictures, so I'd say okay, but don't go too crazy on us.josdu wrote:Can you (actually me) change people or animals in one entry? Like one version with two fellas dueling and another with a herd of dogs?
27 - We've always taken a very broad view on what is the "castle" era. Generally we've gone with fall of the Roman Empire around 476 to the Great Fire of London in 1666. Some people would say we're taking too big a bite out of the Renaissance with that dating but oh well. Think of this more as a guideline than a hard a fast rule (don't make me point you to 23-continued above).Glorfindel wrote:To which time period are we limited too?
28 Yes, if you want to take a separate picture of a piece of your MOC (e.g. a cart set on a blank background), that is okay, as long as the whole thing fits within the footprint requirement when it is all together.Grover wrote:My apologies to the admins for adding to the list of questions, but with respect to the 32x32 plate requirement, how does it work with mounts, vehicles, etc.? Okay, you made me. 29 - As Marcu44 noted, it's just your forum login.ReeseEH wrote:Question: How do I find my UserID?
30 It's like you're reading the rules back to us. In past years people wanted to submit bigger and more pictures, and so the sizes were doubled and the pic count increased - except for fig, as really only one pic is necessary for fig (okay, three for a front shot, back shot, and angled shot).Rick-Ricks wrote:Question(s?) twenty-something, maybe early thirties...

I just wanted to double check that I read it right.Bruce N H wrote: 30 It's like you're reading the rules back to us. Question 31
On the categories banning custom figures, what are the views on flesh-toned figs recolored to be yellow?

Re: Colossal Castle Contest 13
Do collab builds count towards Master Builder scores? And if John and I were to create 6 collab entries for 6 different categories, would we be eligible for a joint Master Builder title?
John and I were planning on continuing our series of collab entries, but I wanted to be eligible for Master Builder again this year, and I can't recall seeing anything about collab builds and MB scores in previous CCCs, so thought I'd better check how the rules stood on it.

31 I'd say that any sort of "painting" even with a highlighter, is a form of customization. However, let me check with the other admins to see what they say. If fleshy heads really bother you, I'd just use a different head, IMO. But the judging is going to be much more interested in the build rather than which exact head you use.Rick-Ricks wrote: Question 31

32 In the past we have allowed collaborative builds, on the understanding that there is only one prize, and the builders will have to split or share it, and also that the rule of only winning one category also includes collaborations - so you couldn't win one category as just yourself and another as half of a joint entry.soccerkid6 wrote:Do collab builds count towards Master Builder scores? IMO collaborative builds should not count for master builder, as that is a particular recognition of one person who really killed it this year. Note, for instance, that both Mark and Steven won this prize, but worked alone (of course I am sure that people solicit advice and feedback from a friend or family member, and that's totally fine). I'll get responses back from the other judges, but my gut is that no, collaborative builds would not be considered as part of the Master Builder tally.

Re: Colossal Castle Contest 13
Are we allowed to use non-LEGO cloth for things other than sails (for example, dragon's wings)?
Re: Colossal Castle Contest 13
My entries are not showing up after submitting them, anyone have suggestions? I PMed some of the admins, but have not heard back - not sure where to post for help. Thank you.

Re: Colossal Castle Contest 13
It usually takes some time for entries to be approved, and added to the entries page. Especially later in the contest, as there are more entries being submitted, and the holidays are here too.jtooker wrote:My entries are not showing up after submitting them, anyone have suggestions? So most likely, you'll just need to wait a bit longer

Btw, if someone places first in two or more what happens? I know that they only get one prize but do they get to choose, or do the judges pick the best one for them? Also are they informed? Just wondering, I guess it doesn't matter cause I doubt it happens to me .
