a newbie and his 1st MOC

Post by En_Zoo »

hello everyone,

I'm new here and new with MOCs - nice to meet u all ^

I must say, I feel a bit embarrassed postin this among all of ur creations, but hey need to start somewhere so ye, this is my very first:

I've built it with the bricks I've found at home from when I was a child so the colours are off and stuff like that. also, pretty old style, loads of panels, no tiles etc.. BUT I've really enjoyed workin on it! x)

I hope I'm postin in the right way with the right size image, pls let me know if not.

I've already looked up some 'modern' techniques and I'm workin on my second to see how I do.

Meanwhile, if anyone here wanted to give me some advice, that'd be great ^^ - u can find some more pics here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/138833402@N08/ ... 283141850/

oh and if ur advice is gonna sound like 'get more bricks', that's absolutely fine as I'm actually goin to :pp I just need to know which ones..

Welcome to CC.

I am glad you shared your first build. It is neat. We have a thread hanging around where a lot of us showed off our first builds, in the hopes that others would feel better theirs. The secret is to enjoy yourself.

Here is the thread. http://classic-castle.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=19492

This is a pretty epic castle, love the hanging tower, and bulky look of the main fortress. Very good for a first MOC, and I'm sure your feature ones will be even more impressive :)

I like it. You have done some pretty neat work with the arches and that hanging tower works really well. We all know how it feels like having a limited collection. Good luck with enlarging it and with your future builds! Also, welcome to CC :)

This is definitely monumental! I adore it.
Not that I like to call anything bad, but, I enjoy seeing folks using pre-made walls from the days of Classic Lego Castle, as opposed to simply seeing things built a brick at a time, since it really goes to the heart of the classic castle days, back in the 80s.
Although there was the #6075 yellow castle, the majority of early Classic Castle consisted of things like #6080, and #6085, which are what spring to my mind when I think of 'classic'.
Like the others have said, too; the tower hanging off to the side is marvelous, and inspiring.
I too, have a limited collection, lots of odds and ends from about 5 or 6 different original castles, and some tidbits from the Dragon Mountain thing they had in 2014(and some extra green pieces from Ebay so that I could make hilly terrains and such), so, improvising is something I can relate to, since I don't have space to fill up my whole house with legos.
Sometimes, improvising takes things in directions one would have never imagined.
Anyway... This definitely appeals to me.
Keep up the good work :D

thanks guys ^^ enthusiasm has just risen drastically (as if it hadn't been high enough already..) x)

P.S.
I've realised few pics on Flickr were set as private, I've corrected that now.

I actually like how the colors are a little mismatched; it makes the Castle look like it's been renovated over the years. I hope to start making MOCs soon, but I'll have to see what I can get off Bricklink.
Yeah I've got nothing.

Welcome to CC! That is a sweet MOC. You don't see the Bat Lord faction as much in builds. I really like it!
