Very cool! I really like the concept of the joust rising from the back - neat design there!
Even though this is an "experiment" build, I'm glad you gave the wall some spots of dark bley and other pops of color so that it doesn't fall into the great grey wall category. The foliage and flora at the bottom also help.
All in all - it's easily recognized as a castle wall, something that would connect to an even bigger castle, and has a really fun play feature at the top. Though yikes, it's a long way down if you get knocked off your horse!!

When you get knocked off your horse, that's a pretty rough fall.
Very cool idea for the "gimmick". The build details are also really nice. My favorite such detail is the way you did the doors with those quadruple cheese slopes.
