Citadel of Orlan

Post by Elephant Knight »

Just in time to celebrate my 900th post on Classic Castle, I present another take of mine of the Citadel of Orlan. Not the first time I have built a MOC of the KK2 set Citadel of Orlan (I have a lot of nostalgia for it, OK?), an nor will it be the last.

Plenty more pictures on Flickr (pics are links). Comments and criticism are welcome!

Quite an impressive revamp! Those winding stairs are gorgeous, and I like your water technique.
Great work restoring the citadel as well, the gate area is especially cool :)

Nice fleshed-out version of the original set. I agree my favorite bit is the stairs in the front. If I have one critique I think it's a little too faithful to the original, which I wasn't a huge fan of. The original felt like an 80's video game level - very linear walkthrough, various obstacles or puzzles to solve along the way. Maybe if you'd had less of the "one long hallway" floorplan from the set it might have been better.

Well, in my head canon, the place was built like that intentionally, as to test knights coming to go for the Heart of the Shield of Ages. There were some young reader books for the KK2, and the citadel has a bit of a different look in it. I'm sort of planning to follow of the look in that next time. But thanks for the critique!
