Proudspire Manor

Postby soccerkid6 » Sat Apr 22, 2017 12:10 pm

A commissioned model for one of the Skyrim game designers. It is based off of the actual Proudspire Manor in game, which is located in the city of Solitude, just like my previous General Goods, and Windmill.

The model uses many of the same techniques as my previous Skyrim models, but I changed the stonework technique in this creation to be more parts efficient.

It's pretty similar to the other tavern build you made, but I love the intricate roof here! Splendid!

Agreed! How did you get that post in the middle of the roof to stay in place? To my out-of-practice eye it looks like the bottom ledge is just keeping it from falling, but if you have a different solution, I'm interested in learning how you did it. :)

He reverses stud polarity using one of these, which presumably also has the plate portion sticking down into the roof, anchoring the timber in place.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

@eNiGMa: Fairly close to what AK described, I actually used a 4 long bar through the 1x1 round bricks to reverse their direction, and then one of these,

, clips to the bar to hold the section in place. The bar with clip fits into small gaps easier than the plate with ring.

Awesome MOC and great techniques throughout.

BTW, I just wanted to take note of the phrase "reverses the stud polarity". Definitely going to have to use that. In organic chemistry, the reversal of bond polarity is called "umpolung", from a German word (not sure if it has use outside of chemistry). So maybe this is umpolung LEGO (umpoLEGO?).
