New Castle Project! (I started over)

Post by Jacob C. »

Well I ditched my old castle project & started over. The older one just didn't satisfy me!
Here's some pics of the new one under construction....

What you see in the pics is the construction of the outer wall. I'll eventually build a keep or small castle some where in the middle when Im finished with the outer wall.

I see some New gray in there! Good! FINALLY people are using new gray in MOCs. The new gray actually matches those wall pieces.

Back on subject: The begginings look good so far. The wall isn't too small or too large. Basically the perfect size.

Can't wait to see more. :D

Ya, I use all Grays in my caslte moc's.
The majority is light gray & the rest (bley, dark gray, etc) I use randomly throughout the moc. In my opinion it's best to use those colors randomly instead of placing them in one area.....that might look a bit weird.

I think you will find that it is a brick separator.

Yes, thats one of the most important pieces in lego building (well actually de-construction).
I suffered many a sore finger before I got a brick seperator!

Lookn good man. Has a real classic look to it.

How effective is the brick seperator. I don't have one, i usually us another brick to remove a stuck brick. I would think this seperator to be similar, but more effective

example...how effective is for taking a 2x2 plate off a base plate....these are very hard to remove, i had to use a knife in some cases.

A brick separator is an absolute must for any serious builder. Better yet, get two! They are relatively inexpensive, so cost is not an issue. A brick seperator prevents you from scratching or damaging plates which would otherwise be difficult to remove.

Oh, and using another brick to separate plates is a poor substitute for a brick separator.

I went for 16 years without a brick seperator, and I never thought I really needed one. I didn't have that much trouble getting pieces off. I didn't know what I was missing. But then I got one in one of the creator sets, and now I don't deconstruct without it. It's awesome. It'll pull a 2x2 plate off a bigger plate with no more effort than taking 2 1x2 bricks apart. It's a must. :D

*On topic*

What you've got there so far looks awesome. That's gonna be a pretty good sized castle. Do you have any plans to fill it with anything other than a keep? Stables? Armory? Smithy?
