Thanks everybody! I hope this list will continue to be useful. Jedipawn, what did you add to the list? I would love to hear.

I just had a few thoughts bouncing around in my head so I jotted them down... let see...
1.) Artist studio (Rambrant, or who ever)
2.) Corral (for horse breaking)
3.) Garage (for the "royal" coach)
4.) Inventors lab (I didn't want a wizard in my town so I needed an inventor)
5.) Look out tower (inspired by the fire towers/lookout towers in Return of the King)
6.) Flower mill (I wasn't sure if the wind mill counted, but... ok so I'm sleep deprived)
7.) Parade Grounds (inspired by the home page at CC!!)
8.) Port (I have a few ships, need a place to put them)
9.) Poultry shop (KILL THE CHICKENS!!)
10.) Produce shop (I wanted to give the Farmer a place to sell his wares)
11.) Storage tower (an anti-siege tower)
12.) Ship yard (a place for my ships to come from)
13.) Toll booth (my king is kinda poor, he needed some income)
14.) Town square (ehhh anyway)
15.) Well (I wanted a decoraded well in "my wifes" garden)
16.) Wool shop (inspired by James Brinks wonderful creation http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=64809)
And Finaly
17.) Wagon repair (for the poor towns folk that can't afford the blacksmith)
All in all you gave me a wonderful starting place... I have enough ideas to build for quite a while!!!

Thanks! That list is really great for a guy like me who is just starting out and doesn't know what his medieval village should have in it.

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

It's already on the list anyway. Even though it would be fun/funny to have one, my LEGO village won't contain a house of prostitution. I just think it's kind of against the idea of the toy.

To be honest, I am not sure if there were many medievel restaurants or not.Jedipawn wrote:

I believe "Jacques" refers to the book Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens

I'm no expert, but I believe most pre-prepared food needs were handled by the local Inn or Tavern/Pub. Most Taverns/Pubs serve food, and I believe this was true back then. Inns I think typically served food as well, though I have a feeling it wasn't quite complimentary. I would suspect that the Inn Keeper and his family would host guests at their family meals if paid to do so.Bricksidge wrote:

Other such places would probably be a bakery or a butcher, where prepared food would be ready for people to purchase. The bakery would obviously sell preprepared food, and I don't think you'd have to stetch very far to see a butcher with a smoke house or grill.

Great idea, you just helped me with and unused corner of my butcher shop.and I don't think you'd have to stetch very far to see a butcher with a smoke house or grill.
