Archer loop in a one-stud-thick wall

Post by catena »

I started a new thread since we're not really competing, and we should keep all the discussion of a single approach in its own thread.

So, here's my approach to an arrow loop in a one-stud-thick wall.

That is so cool man!

A lot of my keeps are only one stud thick, and I have had a hard time trying to make something look just right!

Thanks for posting this idea. Its awesome!

Yeap, that seems to solve the problem for me. Those dk grey wedges would be just too much-whereas the slopes, I mean, what does a castle do with most of them anyway?

Very impressive! I think I'll borrow that one too. :D

Great! I'll have to echo the others in my sentiments. It would probably look even better if the 2x4 plates on the front were tiles. I'm sure it wouldn't be nearly as strong, though.

I've built a version of this in the Black Falcon colors. See the new last two images on the page.

Cool!

So, I think we all have designs for Arrow Slits for the base (2 + thick), the Middle (2 thick) and the upper levels. *laugh* Now, I expect to see some awesome MOCs from you all immediately which incorporate these designs! *laugh*

So, what is the next aspect of castle we are going to tackle? I've suggested Draw Bridges ... thoughts?

Wow, I really like those arrow slits, and I'd love to see some draw bridge action. I just never can get those right.

I am another who has failed to make a decent drawbridge. I have tried several times and failed in my mind all of those times. Part of my problem is a brick shortage. I have 100s of wall pieces, but my brick collection is not where I want it. Too many years of buying stock sets rather than buying brick. :( I know better now...

Arrow Loop

Post by caesar2164 »

Very nice arrow loop!

You have made another thief :D

wlister: check the "Drawbridge Anyone" thread for my personal drawbridge. Sorry about ugly picture...

It took me days to find the right length to make the raising bars but i finally found one. When i have time ill make one in LDraw so everyone can see how it works.
Now where did I put that Brick separator?
