character name: Aldwir
Aldwir was the second born of a minor noble in the northern plains of Loreos. Spending most of his adult life in study at the university in the capital, he never thought he'd have to use the training he received in his adolescence by the master of arms in his fathers hire. The failed campaign in Outlaw territory changed all that though. His brother Naskel returned home wounded, and his father, Lord Veyn blamed him, as he was supposed to be the one to be sent on campaign. Summoned home, his father had new plans for him.
Aldwir: "What of Naskel? Why can't he defend this outpost?"
Lord Veyn: "His place is here with me, he's had enough of war. He is my heir, and I will not have him die."
Aldwir: "I understand..."
Naskel: "Aldwir! Father doesn't mean it like that! He just means it's outside our best lands, he doesn't want me to die in vain!"
Aldwir: "And my life is fine to throw away? I'll do as Prince Jarius commands, but know this, from now on I make my own way in life, my last request is you send with me the men to complete my mission."
Lord Veyn: "I will do better, I grant to you the pathetic strip of land to our northern border that dilapidated outpost sits on. Know there is no town, mine, or even land that will support a crop. I curse you with these lands and hope you defend them well, so that my heirs will always look at you with disgust as you and what ever progeny you whelp live as the poorest noble born in Loreos. I grant you this on one condition."
Aldwir: "And that is?"
Lord Veyn: "I never want to see you again. You've only ever failed me."
Aldwir: "If that's all you ask of me. Good bye."
