Actually there is.

The map we're working with now is just a draft that includes the biggest and most noteworthy landscape elements. The one lake was put there because it is a huge one, if you want to add smaller lakes (or even big ones) you can do so. Just add them in with your names and cities.

I don't think we should add more lakes. Perhaps smaller ones but on big lake is sufficient in my opinion. Otherwise we would lose to much forest if a big lake is added. A few smaller lakes could work though, but then again we need some names.

Yes, some minor lakes would indeed be a good adition to the map.

I don't know about the others, but I've been in Egypt last week. It was a very inspiring trip, and a source of ideas for the occasions when I need to depict the Loreesi lands, cities, fortifications and people. It also taught me that capitols change over the years. Pharaoh Akhenaton founded a new capitol called Akhetaten - now el Amarna. It was abandoned and ruined only 17 years later, with the death of the pharaoh, and Luxor was restored as the capitol and centre of religious life. We shouldn't feel ourselves pinpointed when we select a capitol.

A lot of new ideas have been produced last week, very good. I like most of them. My favorites are the names Bladefall, Standfast and Ainesford. One thing that's illogical to me though is the place where the big border river between Loreos and Lenfald runs into the sea. This seems to me the ideal place to have the biggest shipyard of Lenfald, as logs can be transported to the sea from the woods using the river. It's also an ideal place to exchange merchandise between sea vessels and river barges. Maybe the town with the provisory name of Bloodport could be relocated here? It has probably a Loreesi city at the other side of the river as it's counterpartner. The history of these two could be one city split up, two rivaling cities or two cooperating cities sharing a bridge like Buda and Pest in Hungary.

Some naming suggestions:
- city/harbour: Durrough, from the older Dunrow, which comes from Dun Roawian. It was said to be the place where Roawian landed on this continent. Dun means forth. It could be used for the aforementioned harbour city, because I don't really like the name 'Bloodport'.
- island: the north-eastern of the Merkorliss isles could be called Norholm, it means 'northern island' The main isle: Merkorion?
- landmark: the area of which Moonhaven is the northern border could be called Lenness, 'nose of Lenfald'
- landmark: I like the name 'Luttelo' for a small isolated area of wood
- landmark: the northern mountains could be called 'the old men' or 'the silver crown' as they are the only Lenfald mountains with permanent snow on their tops. Aldmann Mountains, or Duke Mountains would be a nice translation. (A duke wore a silver coronet, a band with 8 peaks)
- landmark: the valley south of Armendahl mountains I'd like to call Strath Armen (strath is 'wide valley'), because i like the word strath.
- landmark: Isax for the icy strait between the continent and the Merkorliss isles (Is = ice and axe or exe or uks = water)
- landmark: Nan Deorc, for a dark valley, e.g. the one that leads to Frosthaven (nan = valley and deorc = dark)
- landmark: Fyrla for the river running from the Dragon Scale Mountains to the Garheim border. (fantasized, appears to be a Polish forname)
- landmark: Issala, the river from the northern mountains to Everlyns Tears Lake (Isala is the old name for the dutch river IJssel, 'Is' doesn't mean ice in this case, but it reminds me of ice nevertheless)
- landmark: Lagflos, for the river running from Everlyns Tears to the Aines (Lag = (tree) log and flos from flotan, floating)
- landmark: Dramen for the river from the Dragon Scale Mountains to the Aines (Dra from dragon, the rest being fantasized)

It's good to have you back Koffiemoc, I was already wondering where your input was. Some explanations:

Yeah I see that now, I keep forgetting that a river runs through there, because of the border. Relocating Bloodport would be an excellent idea.

I agree on everything, especially all the names for the landmarks. I suggest maybe Airgid Corónaigh (silver crown in gaelic) for the mountains? I think that your other suggestions are splendid! Thanks finally some more input :tasty:

I like Airgid Corónaigh even better than Aldmann Mountains.

Gaelic is very uncommon to me, it's easier to find the old germanic or old english names of things. When I researched some of the nameparts I realized Tolkien must have used the same sources, like in Dunharg, Nan Curunir etc. His names of places in the Shire are excellent I think, like Sarn Ford, Little Delving and Stock. It will be a pleasure to think of names for very small places and regions, but this is not the time to do it.

Do we need more names for regions, locations etc?

Well I guess not, since we already did too much. We were only supposed to think of three cities, and three landmarks. But I went a little overboard and started naming everything :tasty: But I think it adds to the realism of being able to name a little more then just three names in your MOCs. Anyway, I think that for now this should be enough. Oh btw I liked your river names, I couldn't come up with those myself but I think you did a terrific job!

By the way, where is our King? As in who made a fig for him? I know I did, but we need more! Unless Teherean has a few entries already...

I might make a 'fig of our good High Lord, but as usual it'll be a matter of getting him photographed

So far, I think only Elderon sent me an entry to become our NPC leader. I was thinking of adopting him, but if you guys have something in mind I'll wait for a few more days.

As far as the naming of locations is conerned, I leave that up to you guys. I think adopting (some) names from gaelic is a pretty good Idea, don't forget Saxon! ;) (I got our king's surname from a polish-german mix...)

I won't be able to do one for a few days, but if the entry is still open at the end of the week I might have a shot.

I'll make that a deadline. Next saturday 24th of March 23:59 PM Central European Time. I'll try to whip something up myself...

I'm here! I'll try and whip up a king. I'll also work on that introductory challenge, right now I'm toying with designs for a deer.

Remember guys, Roawia already has a "King". While it may be historically accurate to have multiple persons denoted as such, with a "High King" over the rest, for simplicity's sake and to avoid confusion, let's try to be consistent in using a different title such as "Lord", "Prince", or some other such title :)

I already made a design for a deer, althoug it's a little bit too big... I consider calling it a doose, a combination of deer and moose :tasty: It'll be up somewhere this week.

How about emperor? Or to keep it gaelic: Roinn Bhinse an Rí Godfrey.
