LCC build, score page and interactive map

Post by Bentoft »

Hi all
As I have said in other threads, I have made a small page to keep track of your personal score:
http://bentoft.dk/lego/LCC/scores/index.php

I just wanted a separate place to post about new updates.

Updates:
The highscore list can now be filtered by fraction.
I have added the possibility to let the builds fight each other in the Best LCC build fight.
You will be presented with two builds and have to click the best build and the ELO ranking system will give the builds scores.
This is a totally unfair way to rank the builds, since the pictures does not show all of a build and the pictures is of different sizes.
But it is still a fun way to see how good your build will do in the fight.

In other words, there is a new build scoreboard and your opinion have an influence.

All kind of feedback is welcome in this thread.

Just wanted to point out that it is "faction", not "fraction"

Faction: "a group or clique within a larger group, party, government, organization, or the like."

Fraction: "a ratio of algebraic quantities similarly expressed."

8)

EDIT:
The new "Fight" system is awesome!! :D
Does it only factor in your number of wins, or is it a winning % vs. other MOCs with high winning % ? I'd be interested to know how the system works.

I will try to fix my fraction problem tomorrow.

The fight system follow the Elo rating system.

All builds starts at a score of 1500. In a "fight" the winner get points from the other build, according to their current points. So if you win over a build with a low score, you gain only a little points, while if you win over a build with a very high score you build gains lots of points.

Glad you like it.

I have added a build count and a sum of scores column to http://bentoft.dk/lego/LCC/scores

And now I have bumped this thread for the new LCC members.

Thanks for putting this together Bentoft, I will try and remember to add my new LCC builds here in the future and the ranking builds system is pretty neat :)

I can see some of you have problems finding the image url, so here is a short guide to find the url from a flickr image:

1. click the image to get to the black framed big picture.
2. click "view all sizes" in the upper right corner.
3. right click the image and select "Copy Image URL" or "Copy Image Location" or something like that.

Now you got the image url in the clipboard, and you can test it by
1. paste in the browser address bar.
2. check that you image appears without anything else than the picture.

I think I have something cool for you this time.

I have made an interactive map (early version): Map (graphics by Mitah Val Karem)
(try to mouse over Toberg)
And if you edit your build you can now specify the location on that map. You can find the coordinates here (click the map).

If you have more builds in the same location you have to use the same coordinates. Therefore you can see the coordinates on a location when you mouse over the location on the map.

I hope some of you will plot your builds on the map, and please ask questions here.

That's neat! Does this mean, we can edit the map ourselves, or that we send in the coördinates to you, so you can edit the map? I might use this option, once I've finished a couple of nice builds.
I also like the scroll-over option, with the pictures of the buildings on that spot.

You can add your builds yourself (see first post), just go to http://bentoft.dk/lego/LCC/scores/index.php

1. Click create new LCC player
2. Find your created player and click it
3. Add your builds
4. Click the edit build icon and enter coordinates

When people host contests/challenges, they get 1 point for hosting. As of right now, there is no way to enter that without it skewing that person's scores (particularly if, like me, they host a lot of challenges). Any way to add a "host" option that won't give you a bunch of 1500 scores?

Hmmm, that might not be easy. I will think about that. For now you could add one freebuild entry with all your hosting points. After all, the score average and sum is not the important thing in LCC, its the personal points that counts. If a build have no image, it will not enter the build fight, and will just stay at 1500.

That is a good idea to just add them all as one free build. Thanks :D

Love this new mapping feature, I have mapped 6 of my builds so far. 8) One suggestion: rather than having to roll your mouse all over the place to see "what's there" it would be good if there could be a small symbol for where builds have been posted. Nothing large mind you, but it would be handy.

Yes, that map is really cool! I will have to go back and enter the coordinates for more of my builds.
You would rather be building right now.
