LCC Member Survey 2014 Results

Post by andhe »

And now for the results you've all been waiting for!
If you don't know what I'm on about the original thread was here viewtopic.php?f=5&t=24824

Some interesting results came up, some unexpected. Here are the first few for your perusal and interest.

1. What LCC faction are you a member of?

Loreos had the most members complete the survey with 31%
Garheim in second with 25%
Lenfald a close third with 24%
And the outlaws in last (as usual :P) with 20%

2. How long have you been involved in the LCC?

Less than 3months 31%
3- 6 months 11%
6-12 months 28%
1 year + 31%

3. How did you hear about LCC?

Flickr 41%
Classic-Castle forum 36%
MOCpages 13%
Other 7% (including recommendations from friends and even a google maps search?!)
Eurobricks 3%

More to follow...

4.What were your main reasons for joining the LCC?

72% said the community building aspect
61% said the story-telling aspect
47% said to help improve their MOCs
23% said to show off their MOCs
7% said to win stuff!

and 12% said other things such as networking with other builders, getting ideas from other builders, and enjoying RPGs (assuming they didn't mean rocket-propelled grenades).

5. Are you involved in any other Lego RPGs? (I tried to mention the main castle ones I had come across, sorry if yours wasn't mentioned)

72% said they weren't involved in any others
10% said Guilds of Historica (on Eurobricks)
6% said Lands of Mythron (on MOCpages)
5% said Legends of Brickdom (on Flickr)

13% said others such as Insurgency, Brick Castaways, Beyond the New World and some other Star Wars ones.

6. Are you more involved, or less involved in these other groups than you are in the LCC?

57% said they weren't involved in any others (which is confusing, as it was a drop of 10 people from question 5...?)
31% said they are more involved in the LCC
11% said they were more involved in other RPGs.

Note: figures will not add up to 100% as people were able to give multiple answers in some cases.

More to follow...

7. What are your MOCing plans for the year ahead?

54% said they plan on building mostly for the LCC
13% said they plan on building mostly castle but not for the LCC (eg their own builds, or another RPG)
12% said they will probably have less time to build
6% said they plan on trying other themes instead of castle (eg space, Military)
and 15% didn't know or didn't have any plans

8. What would you like to see in the LCC this year? (please note, this was a survey, not a referendum so don't expect to see any of this implemented...!)

50% of voters wanted More Global Contests (challenges between all factions)
47% of voters wanted More opportunity to be part of the global storyline
45% of voters wanted More opportunity for war/battles
42% of voters wanted More Local Contests (challenges within your faction)

34% of voters wanted More time to develop my your own story
32% of voters wanted More prominence of the guilds

7% of voters wanted Less war/battles
6% of voters wanted Less Local Contests (challenges within your faction)
3% of voters wanted Less Global Contests

(^I think we can see what the general trend is here...)

9. What are your thoughts about the Global and Local contests?

85% think they are fun and exciting opportunities to build
59% would enter even if there weren't physical rewards
26% think they aren't often enough
21% think the deadlines are too short
5% mainly enter for the prizes/points
4% think are too often
3% find the rules too restrictive
and 3% said none of the above

10. What are your thoughts on the current storyline?

67% said it provides an exciting inspiration to build

49% try to involve their character in every part of the storyline
23% read it, but are mainly pursuing their own characters storyline

27% would like to see the Queen keep power for a bit longer
but 16% are sick of the Queen and want to get back to how things were

26% want more war!
but 4% are tired of the war

14% think the story doesn't move quickly enough for me
but 4% think it moves too quickly

and 11% gave Other responses (in summary):

They'd like to see the global storyline have a more long lasting impact on Roawia, rather than everything returning to normal at the end of each event.
They'd like their actions to have an impact on the global storyline (individually or as a faction)
They'd like the factions to be at war again with each other.
They'd like the factions to band together to form a rebellion.

Here endeth the results from the first LCC members survey of 2014. Thank you for your participation and I hope the results are of interest as well!

I've got to say, there is an interesting spread when it comes to membership. I would've guessed there'd be a slightly higher percentage in the 1 + Year range, but now it really puts in perspective how many new(ish) players we have! Again, thanks for doing this andhe! :D

Interesting results there! It would be nice to see the the answer to number two by faction (eg. Loreos, Less than 3 mo, 45%; 3-6 mo, 10%; 6-12, 5%; 1+ yr, 40%). Just a thought. Might ( :P ) be complicated.
Thanks for doing this!

That might be interesting. I'll have a look if it's possible (I'm only using the free version so the analysis is limited...) but I might be able to do some sums by hand.

More to come.

Of course Loreos had the most participation in the survey, we Loreesi practically keep the LCC alive with our incredible builds and playful comments.
But that besides the point. Awesome survey andhe, really great to learn about the LCC more.

That's very interesting, especially the one about the other RPGs! I didn't expect so many people to only take art in the LCC. :)
