Darn. There wouldn't happen to be a BrickFair PDX or Boise in the works would there?
DC a little far from Eastern Oregon, especially for a student/engaged guy...
Hope you all have fun!

Where is the location? I might be able to make it. As long as it is withing 1,000 miles from OC in CA, USA.Todd Webb wrote:I'm a bit out of touch with the PDX crowd (never been there myself). But isn't BrickFest PDX still alive? Or has all of the original BrickFest events closed shop?wunztwice wrote:Darn. There wouldn't happen to be a BrickFair PDX or Boise in the works would there?

BrickFair is just outside Washington DC. Sorry :(Black Ranger wrote:Where is the location? I might be able to make it. As long as it is withing 1,000 miles from OC in CA, USA.
I dunno anything about the old BrickFest, other than the '06 event I attended in DC (BrickFair is now taking place in the same hotel).

I do think it is at a bad time. Labor Day weekend. I think that is the most busy traveling time of the year. And most people are away. But then again, that could be where you are going.
Well, I wish I could go anyhow.

Sorry for the bad timing. As it is, the Sheraton Premiere Hotel is the only one we could find that is large enough to house our event (without going to an actual DC convention center, which is outrageously beyond our budget). And the Sheraton books up fast. We were lucky they had this one last weekend still open.Prince Imdol wrote:I do think it is at a bad time. Labor Day weekend.
We are still working to acquire the weekend prior to Labor Day for the 2009 event. Maybe that'll help folks (who need to attend Burning Man ;)

I think so. I think its worth flying out from Washington State for it. Unfortunately, I doubt I will be able to make it as I have prior commitments on Labor Day weekend.Lost Viking wrote:Do think it would be worth driving down to the event from Ontario?

Since I am hosting BrickFair, obviously my opinion is skewed :)
But I can tell you that I have gladly driven 12 hours to attend a Lego festival. I've found nothing else in adult life that makes me feel like Christmas again like a Lego festival. I'm thrilled to be part of organizing and hosting one.
To answer your question: YES, BrickFair will be a blast and will be worth it. It's really just a matter of finances, which is entirely up to you.
While I hate to chase anyone away from BrickFair, I would be remiss if I didn't mention Brickworld. They are in Chicago in June. Very similar event -- same joyous childhood thrill. Personally, I'll be at both Brickworld and BrickFair. But if you can afford only one, you may as well attend the one closer to you.
