Another quick reminder that the registration price goes up again from $50 to $60 on September 8th, so if you're still on the fence about going, now is basically your last chance to get the discounted price and ensure that you get personalized goodies like your engraved brick badge.

Sorry guys, I've become jobless and girlfriendless simultaneously and won't be able to make it to BrickCon. My life is sucking right now and Lego is going to be a low priority for a while. I probably won't be posting much on the web either. Sigh...

Good luck with the castle display and I hope you all have a fun time.

*Gets a bag of frozen peas for Rocko's head*

One-Two punch sucks.

Hope everything turns out. Keep your chin up.

Dang, Rock, I'm sorry to hear that. You will be missed. Hopefully things pull together soon for you.

Take care,

Very sorry to hear that Rock. That's a rough draw. You will be sorely missed at BrickCon, I hope to meet you some other time, then.
And, I know it's not exactly the *man* thing to do, but if you need to spill anything out on someone, go ahead and PM me.

Aww, no! Rock just come up anyway and get drunk with your lego buddies. Why not if you've got nothing tying you down right? :P

I kid, I kid. Like Chris said I hope to someday be able to meet the great Rocko, hope things get better for ya man. Your contributions to the display will be sorely missed. :(

I've yet to start on the stream area I've committed to but I have built another building and started another for the town beside my castle and wharf.

I'm curious how the whole display is shaping up. I'm on a bit of a roll now and might manage some more stuff (I expect the terrain I've committed to to just take a building session or two).

I've been working on my river stuff. It looks like I'm going to have a 104x96 stud area rather than a 104x72. I can fill in the extra 24x88 so that the 88x72 that you wanted to put behind my wharf area will still fit.

A rough ascii diagram of things (each character is an 8cre):

Code: Select all

XXXXXXXXXXX++GGGGGGGGGGG
XXXXXXXXXXX++GRRRRRRRRRR
XXXXXXXXXXX++GRRRRRRRRRR
XXXXXXXXXXX++GRRGGGGGGGG
XXXXXXXXXXX++GRRG+++++++
XXXXXXXXXXX######+++++++
XXXXXXXXXXX#+GRRG+++++++
XXXXXXXXXXX#+GRRG+++++++
XXXXXXXXXXX#+GRRGGGGG+++
***********++GRRRRRRG+++
***********++GRRRRRRG+++
***********++GGGGGRRG+++
------------------------
++++++++++++++MMMMMMMMMM
++++++++++++++MMMMMMMMMM
++++++++++++++MMBBBBBBMM
++++++++++++++MMBBBBBBMM
++++++++++++BBBBBBBBBBMM
++++++++++++BBBBBBBBBBMM
++++++++++++BBBBBBBBBBMM
++++++++++++BBBBBBBBBBMM
++++++++++++++MMBBBBBBMM
++++++++++++++MMBBBBBBMM
WWWW#WWWW#WWWWMMBBBBBBMM
WWWW#WWWW#WWWWMMBBBBBBMM
WWWW#WWWW#WWWWMMMMMMMMMM
WWWW#WWWW#WWWWMMMMMMMMMM
OOOO#OOOO#OOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOO#OOOO#OOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOO#OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOO#OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

---- break where I could easily add 32 studs.
O = Ocean
M = Moat
B = Black Castle
G = Grass
R = River
+ = Unknown as yet (probably grass)
# = Road
X = 88x72 module
* = New stuff I will add
I could probably actually manage another 32x192 studs worth since I pretty much already have stuff to fill in all the + area from before, plus I've got a 32x32 building constructed, another 16x16 started, and probably at least 1 more building (plus I actually have a building that just needs a foundation). I also plan to do at least 64x8 studs more of cobblestone road.

What I would probably do is insert 32 studs height at the ---- line

One thing that would really help is to have an idea of what the interface of the 88x72 module is. Plus what will be above mine?

I'd actually like to do another 32 studs above mine (which would result in 88x32 studs at the --- line plus 104x32 studs at the top, plus 192x32 studs at the --- line as mentioned above.

Am I getting greedy?

With NWBrickCon less than three weeks out, how is space planning going?

It actually turns out my river is coming down a hill with a waterfall, so I will definitely need more space to the top of my diagram above. If anyone is still interested in building some cliff and the other cliff needs are met, it wouldn't hurt to expand my hill if there is room to expand the display that direction.

I hope I'm not getting greedy...

Hi Frank,

I'm really sorry I didn't reply earlier, I've been extremely busy. Somehow I completely missed your last two posts. I am at work right now, but I will look over the diagram when I get home and make sure that you are good. You are definitely not getting greedy! We have 40 feet that we can fill, just for the cooperative layout. You can have all you want. :) There is lots more for stand alones as well.

Ok, I'll keep cranking along then. I will try and pull together a NWMap layout so people can picture my layout better.

My river portion may not have huge flexibility, but I've got plenty of small Base8 bits so we should be able to make things work out.

Frank, its all looking good. Thanks for filling in that section. Also the extra 32x192 would be great.

Thanks!
Josh

PS. To answer your NWMap question in the other thread: I doubt that I will have the time to do that, but we will see. I'm pretty swamped.

Ok, great, things are coming along nicely. I have about 48 studs of 2 tier cliff (+16) to build plus another 32 studs of 2 tier rise that will have a fortification built in.

If anyone is just jumping to build cliff, we could always expand my cliff area. My 2 tier cliff is 16 studs deep so that it has one 8cre rising to +8 and then a 2nd rising +8 more to a total of +16.

Do you have at least a rough diagram of how stuff is playing out?

Also, who is on my boundaries? I have some flexibility as to things like road connections but it might be worth some coordination. Of course we can also work things out when we get there.

Oh, I'm also bringing a big pine forest, we had a club meeting and at least doubled the number of big pine trees I have.

Sweet! I always feel our displays are a little sparse when it comes to vegetation.
