I know that a lot of present-day last names have medieval origins, which were based upon physical descriptions, geographical location, and occupation, etc. Some of the meanings are pretty obvious, while others I can't figure out for the life of me.
Does anybody know of any good resources where I could figure out the origins of last names? I would very much appreciate the help.
