You do know that was just a story, not really a historical fact? The war of Troy did happen but the Trojan horse is barely mentioned in the Odyussee and not at all in the Iliad

David and Goliath from the Bible. (1 Samuel 17)

David totally beat the tobacco juice out of a 9 ft guy! And he was only a boy!

He was a shepherd boy, and had a light tunic on, and was armed with ONLY A SLING! (of course, he did have a few rocks. :D ) While Goliath was fully armed and armored! Now that, is what I call amazing!

Probably stepping on many toes here, but the topic is about historical battles, not stories as richardanthonyc previously said.

Well this confrontation is quite plausible actually. Also people seem to seriously underestimate slingers from the ancient ages. Slingers were possibly more dangerous than archers in a lot of situations and extremely deadly and had incredible range and power. David grew up fighting wild animals and would have been an expert marksman at his young age

How the megablocks do you find David and Goliath more plausible than using the Trojan Horse in the War of Troy? Granted, slingers were dangerous, but that doesn't do away from the fact that the story is highly unlikely...

Because a slinger killing a swordsman most likely happened thousands of times? During the Pelopennesian war huge forces of hoplites were defeated by armies of peltists or slingers. The trojan horse is implausible for so many reasons....

Gentlemen...I am going to ask you to keep on topic please. This is about historical battles.

Please do not be nasty to each other and use words that the word filter turns into "megablok." Remember..any member on staff can see the word you did use.

Also, the subject of religion is a touchy one. Please be careful not to wander into the area which we have to consider that you are violating the "Classic Castle is not your pulpit" rule.

Thank you for your understanding.

I will, just was a little bit surprised. And in my defense I actually typed megabloks... To me that is a heavy swearword and I will apologize for it...

My favorite battle is the battle of Grunwald (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Grunwald) . It was probably one of the largest if not largest battle of it's times.
