Inspiration from Computer Games
Inspiration from Computer Games
Hm... I'm just wondering if anyone gets inspiration for their creations from computer games. I've seen alot of mentions of movies at points in time, but the only game I've seen mentioned is Age of Empires.
So, do you have any games you use to inspire? I personally draw a bit on Stronghold: Crusader, simply because it has such an advanced castle-building engine and a large variety of troops to work with.

When it comes to computer games, the inspirations are:
Age of Empires (w/ expansion The Rise of Rome)
Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings (w/ expansion The Conquerors)
Age of Mythology (w/ expansion The Titans)
Fate of the Dragon
Shogun: Total War
Medieval: Total War (w/ expansion Viking Invasion)
Rise of Nations
Anito: Defend A Land Enraged
Prince of Qin
--------
I'll be getting Rome: Total War, and that new game based on the Alexander movie.

Well not a lot of games have really ispired me (mainly because my computer can't play anything! ) I do have AOE and well I can't really say it has inspired me at all, mainly it keeps me up at night.
I suppose games could inspire, espically large battle groups.

There just isn't enough fantasy/castle games out there except for strategy games. The new World of Warcraft looks awesome since it is an RPG so you can see everything in all dimensions. So does the game Lineage II. I don't have either, so mainly AOE for me. I just wish there was a way to rotate the camera view to see what the back of the buildings look like.

I am glad that outher people get inspiration from computer games. The one that I have seen which has some great 3D models of potential Lego houses/buidlings is Robin Hood - The Legend of Sherwood.

All of the AOE games rule, I have used them countless time when in need of inspiration. I also have used the online MMORPG runescape, which you should all go check out!

I've been making lots of MOC's based on the Sanguo yanyi, which has dozens of games based on it. Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Dynasty Warriors, Dynasty Tactics, and more are based on this novel. So far I have just the main Shu characters- Liu Xuande, Guan Yu, Zhang Yide, Zhao Zilong, and Huang Zhong. In doing so I've had to do some minor custom work, which means I'm no longer the innocent LEGO purist I once was.

Video games inspire me a lot on my Lego projects. For example, in next year's Battles Contest, a brainchild of mine... this will be in Lego form with thousands of minifigs.
