Display and costuming. Swords that are made of stainless steel are too brittle to be used for target cutting (and sometimes just for forms!). Save your money! I once was in the same boat as you are, and regret buying so much garbage. With all the money I used to buy stainless steel trash, I could have bought one or two very nice pieces instead. When I want to buy a weapon, I wait for the Medieval Fair in April. Last year, I got a really nice short sword for only $15- and yes, it is good quality(I've cut trees-not all the way through, but is went really far in-, fruits of all kinds of course, meat, and many more). I suggest this to the rest of you, if you have Medieval fairs.

the closest i know of is in montreal and i have no clue when it is and they probably don't have scimitars

Regardless, a 15$ 'sword' really isn't safe to be swinging around like that. Not trying to badger you really, just don't want anyone to get hurt.

Sorry but I don't have a digital camera, and when I borrow one I'm charged per pic that I take so I can't take many.. I will cut less trees now though, just for you .

I get most of my weapons from BudK and Smoky Mountain Knife Works. Both sites have a wide variety of items in a wide variety of quality and thus prices. I've been ordering from SMKW for about 15 years, and from BudK for about 4 years and am happy with both companies. Each site has both mass-produced weapons and exclusives.
And yes sarous, BudK has a scimitar.
