WOO-HOO!! Ebay rocks!

Post by Commander Redbeard »

I just coughed up 96$ (W/Shipping) on ebay for three Forestmen collection sets: River Fortress (Four figs), that one with the blue roof on the treehouse, the outpost or sommat (two figs), and a sort of rock-outcrop cave w/ a black tree (five figs and a horse.) :P

Although I didn't get the greatest deal (Or did I? You AFOLS will know.) I think there are some good 'uns out there. I just missed 50 knights (Some falcons!) & a pile of horses and weapons going for 20$. Has anyone else out there tried Ebay for lego? I know you're all going to make me jealous with all the great deals you got too. Hmph. :?

You are lucky, after I never got Ghostly Hideout (crusaders) I did not dare to waste any money on Ebay anymore
There was even a greater deal tough, if you're out for figs, someone (a dutch person) is selling 50 figs, the coolest about those fifty are the ten (or more, I don't know) forestmen dudes
the rest aren't castle figs I think, but he only asks 1 Euro for them.
*And the bulls arrive in kk2*
Cedric the bull: "Hahaha Leo we're here to- wtf?"
*and the bulls see some happy knights bouncing at each other with carts*
Cedric (shocked): "I guess we got the wrong KK''
Bull soldier (frightened): "Lets go back"

This topic does not belong in LEGO Castle. All finds should be in the Buy/Sell/Trade forum so I am moving it there. Please post in the correct forums. Thanks

Not bad - if all those sets are complete, you got yourself a pretty good deal.

I have had two remakable deals, one ripoff, and a handful of OK ones

The first was a pile of weapons, flags, and shields. The person selling did not describe the item well, and the pic was so blurry, I could hardly make out anything. I thought, "It's only $8, might as well take a shot at it"

It ended up being: a few dozen wavy flags in assorted colors, a round shield, about 25 assorted shields, (mostly crusader style, but one forestman and aq few BF as well), two BF flags, LOADS of weapons - swords, spears, and axes galore, and a few pirate muskes and pistols. All of this for $10 (with shipping) I estimated the value to be about $25 - $30 (especially with all those shields)

The one other good deal was a forstman crossing (without baseplate) and a forestman outpost (complete) for I think about $40

Now not all about Ebay is wonderful and bright. Last year, I bid on an auction for the "seige tower" - box and all. A *month* later I got it - it was the seige tower box stuffed with old 60s bricks. $30 for what was worth $10

Pretty good deal for $95, my best was a poorly labeled 6061. Seller claimed incomplete w/instructions, some additional parts included... What I got... 6061 COMPLETE w/box instructions, extra horses, men w/shields, 2 pitchforks and another small classic castle set for $8 w/shipping.
Shortly after that I managed to aquire 40 pounds of "damaged or ugly" Lego for $30. In that lot there were 23 road/misc 32x32 baseplates, worst one had some house paint drips on it. Less than 2 pounds was truly useless.
Ebay has been good to me the past 2 yrs, my ebay wins can be seen here http://www.carcanague.com/wins/

Great haul, fcarcanague. I'd kill for that big unsorted lot.
30$ w/ shipping? Great deal. I didn't recieve my sets yet, but I should soon. They were supposed to be complete, at least. Does anybody know the names of the sets I purchased? I only know one, River Fortress. I included a description of the others at the top. Thanks

Hi Commander Redbeard,

The sets that you purchased are 6066 Camouflaged Outpost, 6054 Forestmen's Hideout, and 6077 Forestmen's River Fortress.

You can see their in depth cc archive pages here:

http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/6066.html
http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/6054.html
http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/6077.html

As for the deal on the sets, it seems to be about average prices, but nothing spectacular for saving money. But these are great sets with useful pieces and cool minifigures and I would prefer these over newer kk2 sets.

It sounds like there were some missing minifigs in the sets you purchased, but they are very good sets overall.

In terms of price, it was fairly average.

Sounds like a decent, if not stupendous deal, Commander Redbeard. Unfortunately, I have never been ripped off, nor have I been victim to an excellent deal, as I have never yet dealt on ebay. If you guys keep posting stuff like this though, I might well have to start...

For some things like huge quantities of certain parts, Ebay is better then Bricklink, which is great for assortments of individual parts. Try it!

"Huge quantities of random parts," is probably what was meant.

If you need 100 of a specific part, it will usually be cheaper to get them on BrickLink than eBay because you can buy only the parts you want. On eBay, you often find the parts you want in mixed lots containing some parts you don't want so it costs more to get the parts you want but you end up with a bunch of extra parts too.

Brings up a Newb Question from me. I've bought lots of Ebay, but jsut recently learned of Bricklinks from being around these forums. Gotta ask something and hope someone can help.

When you buy items from Bricklink can you only buy from one store? Like you can't just add items from oen store and another into your cart and make it all 1 order? I sorta figured you couldn't cause of the different stores, but was just curious.

You can buy from difrent stores, but you will have to pay two shipping costs, write two emails ect.
