WalMart clearance

Post by captainamerica »

Hey everybody,
In the last week or so, I've been to a few walmarts in my area (North Carolina) and wanted to give you guys a heads upon some new markdowns I've been seeing. Several themes are getting marked down including Alien Conquest(if your store still has any), Monster Fighters and some City and Friends sets. I also saw the 6865 (Captain America Motorcycle) at one location marked down to $9.00. There is some variation as to how much each store discounts their sets though, I picked up the small 9461 for $3.50 (50% off) after passing on it a few times at $5 (about 25% off).

As a general rule, most of the sets appear to be marked off about 30%; taking the Monster Fighters castle down to ~$70. I'll add that the Catwoman set is also marked down to $9 if it's still in stock.

Hey guys, before you get all excited and start running out to your local Walmarts in hopes of great finds. What I have learned is not all Walmarts put the same things on clearance. For example, the one in my town STILL has The Black Pearl full price...not kidding. Rarely does any LEGO go on a clearance worth having...at the store here. While I hear other stores getting amazing sales. What it appears is each store gets a bit percentage they can put on sale. The bigger the store, the less likely that LEGO will be on sale.

Here is hoping you will find a good deal...with a little jealousy on my part, as I know I won't be.

The Black Pearl?! How do they have enough shelf space for LEGO that's that old? All of the stores in my area got rid of those almost a year ago now... I think this clearance is more widespread than most that I see posted since between here and EB people in five different areas have said the same thing. I'm sorry you're getting left out Blue. :(

We had the Monster Fighter clearance and also the marvel clearance as well.

I know the Vampyre Hearse was $25 and the crazy scientist and his robot are $35.

This got my hopes up for the Ghost Train (I am just missing it and the castle), but it scanned as full price.

Bottom line, check your stores, as its completely YMMV!

Hey Capt - where in North Carolina are you? I'm in the Raleigh / RTP area and have a few Walmarts that I can check. Don't want to do double duty though :)
