Where to find parts

Post by jwcbigdog »

Hello All!

I have just started coming around here in the last few weeks and I must admit I am amazed at everything there was to offer. I loved my Lego Castles when I was a kid and have longed to get them out again, only I have seen the line end from TLC and I thought there would be no way to find any good castle stuff any more. I can't wait to dust off my bricks and get started building again.

I have a couple questions, though. What is the best way to get bricks? I would like to stock up on grey and black pieces and castle walls so that I can get to work, but where to do you find them? I have checked out bricklink, as suggested in other threads, but all I see there are single bricks, and I am looking for more bulk. Second, how do you find the perfect piece for a design? I noticed that everyone on bricklink has a minimum order, so what do you do for just one piece?

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my newbie questions!

Big Dog

P.S. Ben and Sava, you guys are my new heros!! Ben's buildings are awesome and Sava's stickers are amazing!!

Bricklink is great for both of those, but to make a suggestion - stick with the brick.
The castle walls are great and you can use them effectively, but the bricks are MUCH MORE versatile. I dont know how many arches and 1x3 and 1x2's you could get for the same price as one castle wall piece, but I am told its comparable.
even if it's a little more though I urge you to just go with the bricks. You'll thank me later. :D

For bulk bricks go to LEGO.com, they still have 50 packs of certain bricks (though the grey selection is very meager). Or if you're near any LEGO stores with a PAB selection, you can try that.

Thanks for the tips so far. The links have been very helpful. That sounds like great advice LEGOfreak, I will definately consider it.

Where are the LEGO stores located? I have never heard of them.

LEGO Brand stores are in a variety of cities that have a good market for the stores. (Of course many of us in neglected cities are still waiting  ) You can find the list of stores here:

By the way, welcome to Classic-Castle!
