Website Opinion

Post by SavaTheAggie »

Hey Guys and Gals,

I'm currently debating on a website overhall for Ikros. On top of adding some PhP to make updating easier, I'm also thinking of changing the menu system a little bit.

As I created C-C, and looked at other websites, I noticed that smaller buttons and smaller title banners looked better. It just didn't make much sense to take up a quarter with a title. So I sat down and began working on a site redesign.

Along with shrinking the menu, I also removed some buttons and added some new ones, replacing some of those text links in the body of the page.

So, if you wouldn't mind, I'd like to get your opinion. Which site design do you like better?

The original: http://www.ikros.net

The new version: http://www.ikros.net/test/

Constructive critcism welcome.

Thanks!

Um.. I think I like the new one more, though it's not that differant, I think it looks sharper.
One thing I don't like though, is the Chaos link. The link looks cool, but I think it makes the Ikros sign look off centered.

Anyway, thats my opinion.

I like the new one better, and as Sir Dillion said it does look sharper.

I am liking the new one. It looks brighter, cleanier, and fits better on a screen.

I think the old version lines up better with the main picture. Other than that the new version looks a bit cleaner.

I like the new one much better. I don't have anything new to add, but the new page is definitely cleaner and fits the screen better. The old one now feels cluttered.

Hmm, I sorta like both. The new version has a better look to the side links, and I like the fact that the banner is smaller. However, I don't like the chaos link where it is. It gives the whole banner a lopsided look.

I prefer the old one. The Chaos banner is cool, but it upsets the balance. Furthermore, I like the old ovoid shields (RK & BK) over the new kite shields (Lion and BM).

I would first find out what backend you will be using for the PHP then customize your style to fit that. What you use for the PHP end will often time dictate the general layout / design capabilities of your site.

Starting w/ a complex or detailed HTML layout first then trying to fit it to the PHP generated pages can be frustrating.

Your current setup isn't too complicated, so it won't be too bad.
