How many MP is your camera that you usually use to photograph your LEGO?
I use 4.0, but I don't think that is enough.

My camera is a 2.1 megapixel. Bigger is better for those who can afford it, but you can also cheat and use good lighting to make up for smaller megapixel amounts. The more light = the sharper the picture (diminishing returns)

wow... some of these cameras listed above must be awesome... I've never used anything above 3 mpx... and actually, it works really well on lego. You can see results here-->http://www.freewebs.com/legelot/photoWorkCrusaders.html and here-->http://www.freewebs.com/legelot/photoWo ... sador.html
I think light is a big factor, and if you can afford a camera with more megapixels, go for it.

I use an 8 megapixel camera (Canon Digital Rebel XT), but that's probably overkill. I'd agree with Anthony that good lighting will give you much better pictures. Also using a macro lens or zoomed in telephoto will help you to not waste any of the pixels you do have available.
Maybe if you could link to some pictures that you think are problematic, some more advice could be given. I'm trying to work up on article on photographing MOCs and posting them to Brickshelf (see my post here in publishing). Unfortunately, I haven't dedicated as much time to it as I should.

Hoping to have a witty signature and cool avatar one day.

Another important feature is the optical zoom, 3X in my experience is essential; since most of the time u will need to size down the picture before upload anyway, also a tripod will help greatly
