This is my latest MOC, and my second Tudor style house. I think it is a vast improvement over my last one, though I still have a long way to go before I come even close to some of the other members of this site's skills. Anyway, this is Hadrian the retired soldier's house(no, no relation to the Roman general). He served the king faithfully for many years, and has the scars to show for it. Eventually(after his last battle, to be more precise) he retired to a small quiet house in a small village in the country-side. I decided to give the roof a shingled look to make it look like a poorer house(soldiers didn't get real good retirement pay in those days ), but mainly because I didn't have enough bricks of any one colour free. Comments and constructive criticism welcome and wanted. PLMK how this can be better. Thanks!
Well let me be the first to say that I like this little house. The 1 x 1 round bricks for walls look a little bamboo like to me, but I really like the simple rustic look of the house. The asymetrical shape and the use of assorted roof pieces really does make it look like a poor soldier retired there.

Hi, this is a lot better than you make it sound. Very well done! A couple of things, though. The roof would look better if you used some 2x2 sloped double concave and convex pieces. The ladder would make a lot more sense turned around, with the top fastened to the other side (remember, the guy could still access it easily from the side). Also, the fireplaces would look more realistic if you used some slope pieces on top to slope from the front of the fireplace into the wall at back. I do like the fact that the the fireplaces aren't split down the middle, though. I also like the use of corner pieces and an L-shaped layout.
I really like this moc. I think the rounds are an excellent touch, I never would have thought of using them this way. I also like the roof, I have experimented with this type before, but without achieving the same quality that you and JB have. I also really like the front door.
I think my favorite touch though is the fact that Hadrian himself is missing a leg. Explains why he retired poor.
