Return of the Grey Chest

Post by Assamite »

Was looking over the 2007 Aqua Raiders sets and noticed that 7771 Angler Ambush appears to have a grey chest.

Okay it's going to be the new split backed design, but it's nice to see this part become more avaliable.

Nope. I have 7771 and there's no grey chest. Although 7770 has a reddish brown one.

The closest grey chest is in 7017, which is a dark grey chest.
Wish they would return, but I don't find myself despirately needing one :D

I've got so many brown ones, that to me, the gray looks odd and out of place. But a black one I got with 5938 and it's freaking sweet.

This wouldn't affect the rarity of the old light gray chest, because it's technically in a different color.

Exactly. This is what I was trying to point out. The only thing anywhere near an old grey chest is the new dark bley chest, which is of course in bley and is dark grey not light grey. Ah well. Just gotta get the money if I want one I guess

I would be up for more chests in grey, however the one I've wanted the longest still is a TAN chest! While the grey ones make good "heavy-duty" strong boxes, and the black ones are just neat, I'd like one in tan for either a just finished chest in a carpenter's shop, or as just a lighter colored wood.

All Lego pieces the world over should be given the tan treatment, it's a fantastic colour. :D

I quite like the black ones that came along with the Adventurer lines, but the new red-brown ones that are appearing don't look nice at all.

That creamy yellow (from the peeper sets) would achieve this as well quite nicely...

God Bless,

I don't know, I kindof like them. I don't like the new brown color, but it is useful as a different type of wood. For instance, I have the old brown chests as made out of hardwork, while the new brown ones are cheap pine.

Interesting.... I can´t help but think of the new brown as chocolate though...

I agree with you 100%. The gray ones look wrong.

Until now I didn't even know that there were black chests. I am off to bricklink to buy myself a couple. Thanks for sharing this info.
