These are pretty cool. I especially like the Conisborough castle, I sometimes pass it on the train and that keep never fails to impress.
When I'm looking for inspiration I go to evensong at my cathedral. Hearing those celestial voices, and knowing that this has gone on everyday for over a millenium is really humbling. Here are some pics I took last week (in and around the cathedral). Hope you find them useful.

The central tower was completed in 1472, and is about 200ft heigh.

The south transcept (1220ish) bathed in evening light.

Note the different building styles: the transcepts are 'early english' (13th century) have very small windows, and are adorned with black marble. The nave, however, was built 100 years later (in the decorated style). Designers became more daring and windows became much larger.

'The Shambles'. 14th century housing. People can shake hands across the road on the upper stories of some of the houses!

Lady Pecket's house

The King's arms (infamous for being flooded)

St William's colege courtyard (heavily restored).

"There is in York a little, old, old church, whose dear and reverend name I have almost forgotten, if I ever knew it, but I think it is Holy Trinity Goodramgate, which divides the heart of my adoration with the Minster"
An American visitor, 1909

The Merchant Adventurer's hall. This was the 'stock exchange' of medieval York.

Part of te city wall.

Interior of Clifford's tower. Note the scorched (pink) stone from fire.
