Skeleton Tower set review.

Post by wunztwice »

Hey all.

I just received the sets I ordered. I am waiting till my girlfriend has time to build the King's castle with me, but I took the liberty of building, and documenting the 6093 Skeleton Tower.
I know we got to see some great shots of it in Admiral Giddens' awsome comic, but I figured you might like some detail shots, etc.

WARNING Spoiler alert. If you like 'surprises' whilst building new sets, do not read this and go about other business!!!
Alrighty, that out of the way, I continue. CLick the Pics and you can go to my flickr set and view the pics and see some of the details I noted there!

Image Image Image

This set was MUCH more fun to build than I thought. The sculptural skull was pretty cool, and the cage is neat.
The set doesn't particularly appeal to me asthetically, but I can see alot of kids loving this!
Mine will probably be parted out with-in a week or so, due to some parts I need.
The construction is solid and hearty, but there are some substantial gaps which really bothered me (see the images).
I also did not like the way the levels were arranged, with one floor entirely too short for a fig with a head.
I like the figs that came with it and fell instantly in love with the Princess, which was easy to do, because she actually resembles my girlfriend a fair amount.
The dragon was neat, and in the hands of a kid would not be unsafe. It's construction is large and chunky, but it actually looks better in person than in pictures.
The parts are alright. Nothing too terribly fancy. Althugh the inclusion of four BLACK barb/teeth is very welcome with me!
If you are looking to bulk up your peice count, go with the castle, not this set!

Well, that's about all the rambling I have in me for now. If there are any specific questions I can try and answer them soon!

G'day, and happy building!
in His grip, Chris

What is this "girlfriend" you speak of? Is it some automated Lego building machine? If so I'd rather not have one as I like building Lego myself.

Looked like the printing on the knight's armor was messed up a little bit, or is it just a bad pic?

Looks like there's a fair bit of useful pieces in this, I'll definently be getting one or two.

That's the impression I got when i saw your photos this afternoon, but certainly there's still a lot of desirable pieces in the set which are very specialist. The lighting waves in particular look great as do of course the figures.

The bley as always is undesirable, but i'm mighty tempted to pick this one up next month all the same.

Thanks for doing the homework for us all!

Well, even some LEGO maniacs have these things called 'life-outside-LEGO.' I happen to have recently gotten one...crazy, I know...
This does call for some changing of building strategy, although she does not do my building for me, she does do some with me.
That way I get to keep my life with LEGO, and her at the same time!

The armor is a tiny bit fuzzy-looking, but not quite as bad as the pic. I was trying to hurry through this reveiw so as to spend some non-LEGO time with the aformentioned Girlfriend. :)

Welp, I think that's all for now, again. I'll try to make it back to answer any more questions! Thanks, and you're welcome!

This is a great review, and a great set. I think that I'll like the dragon more than I thought. I'll definitely get one, and now it'll be hard to resist not picking up another!

That's odd, I have this set as well (did a review a few days back over at EuroBricks before I joined here), and the printing on my armor is very crisp and clear! I wonder if this is another example of discrepancies in building materials and printing...some are fine while others are somewhat blurry...the quality control does worry me :/

Nice review!

About that 2x3 inverted slope you mentioned, I have a few of those... not quite sure excatcly which sets they were from, though. (I take the sets apart too quickly  )

There is a lot of dark blue in this set, which is awesome. I am slightly annoyed however, that the Knight has a plain torso. Thanks for the pictures!

Cool. The dark wizard fellow has Ogel's face, right? Maybe Alpha Team will need a time machine...
